Happy V-Day!

Soooo it's V-Day and I made you a thing.

And by a thing, I mean an album.

No, it's not the behemoth I initially intended, but let's be honest--my original vision would have probably taken till the end of time. These are the first 10 songs of something much larger. The other 22 songs ARE coming and they are amazeballs, but the recording process is HUGE and while some might say doing everything yourself with no help is "courageous," (to paraphrase Han Solo) it's actually more like suicide... and not the painless type they sing about in the MASH theme song. Even with these 10 songs, it's hard to let them go out into the world, build their own lives, make their own mistakes, find new homes in your precious little ears.

Anywho, here it is. It's dark, it's psychedelic, it's grungy, it's electric, it's epic, and it's FREE.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Villain Vednesday #6: The Weapon

This week I was procrastinating in my school work and was suddenly struck by assloads of ideas. Book ideas. Music ideas. Music video ideas. I've already begun storyboarding for the music video and hope to start filming next weekend.

In the mean time, here's me with a microphone. Song is called "The Weapon." Some quality screaming going on here.

Love,
Matt

Slacker

Hello beautifuls,

Yes this is thursday. No there's no video. I fail. Last night I came home after school with determination to get some awesome progress done on mixing. Then I remembered I had a video to make. But if I videoed (is that a word?) what I actually do when I'm working on music, it would look like this:

and it would look like that for several hours at a time. I've successfully re-mixed 6 songs pre-vocals this week, but since there was no way I was going to try to record me doing that and I thought it would be boring to have two Q&A videos in a row, I decided I'd show how one particular song was progressing WITH vocals. My apologies for the lack of video, but I stayed up most of the night getting this to sound presentable. You saw me recording guitar for this a few weeks ago, here's a decent version of it all together.

Love you!

Villain Vednesday #5: Questions

Fall quarter at UCLA is in full effect. While I try to get myself situated into a regime that allows for both music AND studying, here's a quick video with some questions I got last week. ASK ME MORE QUESTIONS!

I love you,
Matt

Villain Vednesday #4: Inextricably Intertwined

Hello lovely people! Progress report: Lately I've been doing mostly mixing, working with parametric equalizers to isolate frequencies, hi-passing, and occasionally re-recording tracks I found to be unredeemable. And then getting frustrated that levels got steadily too high and then going back and trying to re-mix things. I just started back at UCLA this past week, so things have had to take a bit of a back seat while I situate myself in start-of-term academic routine. Today I'm answering one of your questions. Please ask me more. Tell me what you want to see. I love you madly.

Matt
