Soooo it's V-Day and I made you a thing.
And by a thing, I mean an album.
No, it's not the behemoth I initially intended, but let's be honest--my original vision would have probably taken till the end of time. These are the first 10 songs of something much larger. The other 22 songs ARE coming and they are amazeballs, but the recording process is HUGE and while some might say doing everything yourself with no help is "courageous," (to paraphrase Han Solo) it's actually more like suicide... and not the painless type they sing about in the MASH theme song. Even with these 10 songs, it's hard to let them go out into the world, build their own lives, make their own mistakes, find new homes in your precious little ears.
Happy Valentine's Day!
This week I was procrastinating in my school work and was suddenly struck by assloads of ideas. Book ideas. Music ideas. Music video ideas. I've already begun storyboarding for the music video and hope to start filming next weekend.
In the mean time, here's me with a microphone. Song is called "The Weapon." Some quality screaming going on here.
Yes this is thursday. No there's no video. I fail. Last night I came home after school with determination to get some awesome progress done on mixing. Then I remembered I had a video to make. But if I videoed (is that a word?) what I actually do when I'm working on music, it would look like this:
and it would look like that for several hours at a time. I've successfully re-mixed 6 songs pre-vocals this week, but since there was no way I was going to try to record me doing that and I thought it would be boring to have two Q&A videos in a row, I decided I'd show how one particular song was progressing WITH vocals. My apologies for the lack of video, but I stayed up most of the night getting this to sound presentable. You saw me recording guitar for this a few weeks ago, here's a decent version of it all together.
