I’m Viktor Hertz, a 36-year old graphic designer based in Uppsala, Sweden. I enjoy being creative, hang out with fun people and cuddle with cats. I started freelancing as a graphic designer in 2011, and since then some of my clients have been Ray-Ban, Universal Music Group and IKEA. I've had exhibitions of my own artworks and been featured in design books and magazines around the world.
Here’s a quick roundup of some of my most known personal work:
… and a few examples of where I've been featured:
Ok, enough with the introduction/humble bragging/small talk- let's go straight into the important stuff...
So far, I’ve created 5 Kickstarter projects, with posters. Now, I want to make some of my work available as t-shirts, starting off with the Honest Logos. Great quality, eco-friendly and water-based ink screen printed t-shirts. Not some shitty print-on-demand tees, where the print falls off after a few washes. These are legit, I promise. That's why I want to do this on Kickstarter, and have full control from design to final product and make sure the quality is optimal. These t-shirts will only be available via Kickstarter- they might be re-printed in the future, maybe not.
I chose 9 of the most popular ones, and I've been doing a lot of research and surveys on Instagram, asking which colours work best- big shoutout to my dear followers, thanks again for your valuable input! I had to make some colour adjustments for some of them, as the screen printing technique makes multi-colour artworks (and gradients) a bit tricky to work with, hope you understand.
I might add more logos to choose from later- see info about stretch goals down below, and how that will work.
Here are some mockups, to get a sense of how they look in action (NOTE: not final and correct t-shirt models and colours may differ slightly- see links below for actual models):
The t-shirts are manufactured by Stanley/Stella, whose tees I’ve printed on before in one of my collaborations- they have a great feeling of quality and I’m very happy with them. I will use Creator and Stella Wants - both of these models are GOTS, Fairwear and OEKO-Tex certified with 100% organic ring-spun combed cotton. They are not very cheap to print on, but I really want to prioritize quality and fair production circumstances before anything else.
My idea is to add one extra t-shirt to choose from for each stretch goal level. For example, if I reach 150,000 SEK (please make it happen, I need money) I will add 6 more t-shirts to choose from. You'll make your decisions when the Kickstarter project ends, so don't worry about that for now. There are so many other things to worry about these days already.
And, you guys will decide which one(s) to add to the mix, by voting in this Control document I prepared. Feel free to go there already and pick your favorites- this survey will be open for everyone during the whole campaign, and I'll add the top rated one to the project as soon as we reach a stretch goal.
When the Kickstarter campaign ends, I will collect surveys with your choices of t-shirts and shipping details, and then order the t-shirts from my printing company in Stockholm. When they are done with the screen printing, I will pack and ship the t-shirts as soon as I possibly can (worldwide shipping). Customs and VAT charges may be applied for non-EU countries.
I will keep you posted during this whole process and let you know if the schedule will change. Or, if I get sued. Or, go to jail. Might have to make another Kickstarter for the bail.
... for stopping by and hopefully supporting this project! If you have any questions, please read the Kickstarter Backer questions or write a comment. You are also welcome to e-mail me on info (at) viktorhertz.com. Please, be nice. Especially if you're a lawyer.
Hugs and kisses!
Risks and challenges
The last couple of months, I’ve been doing a great amount of research on t-shirts for another project, so I already know the process from start to finish. The artworks are ready, I’ve picked the t-shirt models and I will use a print shop in Stockholm that I’ve already worked with before. I will quality check all the tees before shipping, and make sure everything will result in the best and quickest possible way.
Of course, things can happen- the printing process might take longer than expected, depending on the workload at the print shop. No matter what, I will keep you posted on what’s going on, and when to expect final delivery of the items.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
