We Made it to 100%!!! Thank You!!!
The only thing better than 100% is 150%... So - with that said - Popboompow is pleased to introduce some Stretch Goals.
With all your help so far - We will be able to put on a great exhibit! And we could not be more thrilled. If the funding continues - and we reach 15,000 we are proposing the following additional endeavors.
1 - We will include a hard to execute and expensive to achieve Velvet Edition in the SELECT Fair.
2 - We will create a 75 page Book complete with our favorite Newsaics - Poetry by the Artist - as well as the complete Newsaic Manifesto. This book will be a limited edition kickstarter printing and will be signed and given to each backer of $150 or more.
Why You Should Support This Project:
Frieze art week is a must attend event in the global Art World. While it centers around the Frieze fair held on Randall's Island - there are many other Art shows and exhibitions happening around the City during the same time.
The SELECT fair is one of these. Popboompow will be featuring my work in the Special Projects section of the Fair. The Fair will be held May 8th through the 11th in the heart of Chelsea in the Altman Building. 135 W. 18th Street.
The Special Projects section of SELECT allows a Gallery / Publisher / Brand to present a Body of Work by one Solo Artist.
This year I will be showcasing work from The Times Newsaic. The Times Newsaic is a serial collage art project that utilizes the daily New York Times newspaper as it's sole source of inspiration. From the paper - words and images are torn out, scanned, then re-assembled to form panes of visual poetry. The Newsaic Project started years ago (2008) as a sort of daily art meditation. It has since evolved into an ongoing contemplation - the body of work now features several hundred pieces. This years SELECT exhibit will be featuring some of the most recent works created in the past year. The final format for these works is Small Edition Lithographs on paper. Edition sizes are limited to 10.
I will be using the proceeds of this campaign to help subsidize the costs associated with both Creation and Presentation of the final work.
Creation Expenses include:
Monthly Studio Rent, Aluminum Screen Frames, Screen material, Emulsion, Transparency film, Printing of Transparency Films for development, Exposure Units, Washout Materials, Masking Tape, Packing Tape, Ink, Gloves, Heat Flash, and finally - paper and canvas. I use only the highest quality paper. Coventry Rag 290 GSM. This paper is not cheap... and this list goes on and on.
Presentation Expenses include:
Professional Gallery Framing of the editions to be displayed - this will run upwards of $400 per edition - and I hope to have 20 Editions on view. Transportation and Delivery to and From the Exhibit. Hanging Expenses and Assistants.

Risks and challenges
Risks and Challenges:
In this moment - I see very few risks or challenges in delivering the final exhibition or the rewards promised to those who choose to back this project.
I have been a working artist for a number of years and keep a consistent studio location for the creation of the work. I am based out of Brooklyn, NY - but I received my training from the California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles, CA.
Should any challenges or delays arise in delivering rewards on the time frame promised - I will stay open and honest with my backers while treating them with the utmost integrity and respect.
