SYNOPSIS: In 1920s Oklahoma City, a few men are above the law. Fortunately, crusading reporter Walter Crim stands up to those who would oppress the innocent. When Crim can't achieve his aims through the press alone, he becomes the dark avenger known as 'The Grave'!
The film stars Rett Terrell as Walter Crim/The Grave. Terrell is known for his roles as “Army of Frankensteins,” “The Posthuman Project” and “Vampires Suck.” Terrell stars as Bobby Mitchell in “My All American,” in theaters now.
Alissa Rose joins the cast as the seductive and insightful Alice, once the love of Crim’s life, but who now may find herself caught up in a dangerous situation -- and Crim can’t be sure on what side her loyalties lie.
You may have seen our next actor as roles in the TV shows 'Pretty Little Liars' or 'The Kroll Show' Of course locally in Electric Nostalgia and 'Heroes of the Realm'. We're proud to announce that if we make our funding goal, Stephen Goodman has agreed to appear in "The Grave" in the role of Sgt. Stone.
Producers include Vahid Farzaneh and Matthew Price. “‘The Grave’ is a story about a man pushed to his limits; who wants to do what’s right but finds himself blocked at every turn by those with more power and influence. In an effort to stop those above the law from harming the innocent, he’s willing to take the law into his own hands -- and bear the brunt of the consequences.
The film was written by Matthew Price, based on his comic book originally illustrated by Hunter Huskey and Jerry Bennett. Bennett has created murals, portraits and T-shirt designs for clients including Marvel, Lucasfilm and the Stan Lee Foundation.
DONATIONS: The money that you are donating to this project will help go towards the full production of this short film. Everything from storyboards such as you see below, cast, crew, hair/makeup, wardrobe, props, additional production gear rental, visual effects, post sound etc. We have several cast and crew members that are on board for a fraction of their typical cost, and we are very honored and thankful they are on team 'The Grave'. With that said we very much need your help to get to our very minimum budget of $30,000 and help us exceed it! We have budgets ranging from $30,000-60,000 and up. The more we raise the more we can make the film that much more fantastic. We have some great stretch goals in mind if we get over our initial goal!
Roberts’ and Price's previous film, “The Posthuman Project,” screened as part of the Independent Film Festival held in conjunction with Comic-Con International in San Diego. Among its accolades, it was named GeekFest Film Fest’s best feature at Long Beach Comic Expo 2015. The film has played across the U.S. and in Europe and South America to sold-out crowds as part of its festival circuit, winning ten awards, including five for best feature. The film played a limited theatrical release in January and February 2015. It's now available on DVD and VOD.
Risks and challenges
Making this film as a period piece will have many challenges. Having made a feature length superhero film we are will aware of some of the hardships that are ahead and have done an immense amount of prep work on how we will overcome them. Several of our crew members have been on multimillion dollar films set in the same time period and are stoked to be on board for this film.
It took us over 3 years to complete The Posthuman Project, but that in itself is a huge testament to when we set out to make something, we follow it through. We need your help to make that happen. Help us breathe life into these characters and this film! -Kyle RobertsLearn about accountability on Kickstarter
