Locked in a Garage Band is a coming of age comedy that ROCKS!
A manipulative guitar player tries to save his crumbling rock band from the inevitable break-up that high school graduation brings by bribing his little sister into locking them in their garage. Over the course of a single afternoon, lies are uncovered, betrayals of the heart are revealed and what it means to grow up and let go is explored.
This film is, at its heart, a throwback to classic teen movies of the 1980s - you know the ones, The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, Can't Buy Me Love...movies that ultimately believed that being a teenager was special. Life wasn't (just) about bedding the most chicks or finding the most outrageous way to masturbate, it was about friendship, first loves and finding one's place in the world. Call us sentimental, but we think those movies meant something.
And from the feedback we've gotten so far, other people seem to think the same.
So let's make this happen!
What are we doing? We are trying to raise $20 000 to cover the costs of production in April 2011. With your help this movie will not only get made, it'll also rock.
Where can I learn more about the project? Our official website - www.lockedinagarageband.com
What's it like to work with you two? "I have to say working with you two was one of the career highlights of the year for me! It was so fun, and stimulating, and you are both such empowering, supportive, fun people. Thank you!" Kristina Agosti, Casting Director & Actor
When can I see the movie on the big screen? We like the way you think! We plan to submit to festivals around the world and have big dreams of Cannes, TIFF, Sundance, Tribeca and Austin. You'll be the first to know where and when you can see the film.
Is my pledge amount publicly displayed? No. Jen & Victoria and you will be the only ones to know what you pledged.
If I donate, when can I redeem the incentive? The way kickstarter works is that we will only receive your donation if and when we have enough pledges to raise the full $20 000. It takes about 14 days after that for us to receive the money. So, once that happens we'll then send you the incentive, unless of course it's the DVD & movie posters. Those will be sent once they're done & dusted. We're quick - don't worry.
What if I don’t want the incentive, I just want to support? Awesome. We've done that before with other projects too. Just click the button that says "no incentive please."
Can we exceed the goal? You bet! Loads of others have exceeded their goals on kickstarter and we dream of being in the same situation. Seriously, that would be awesome. That means more music in the film, better food on set, happier cast & crew. Bring on the pledges!
Can I increase my pledge once it’s been made? Yes and yes please! It's really easy. Just log back in and click the green button again.
How do we get the beatbox ringtone? We'll email you the ringtone and you can open it in itunes & load it onto your smart phone. It's pretty awesome. We have it on our phones.
What happens if the money isn’t raised in time? Let's hope that doesn't happen, but if it does then no money will change hands. And no movie will be made.
Who does the money go to? Every penny (minus the fees for Kickstarter’s involvement) will go directly to the “Locked in a Garage Band” production budget.
I'm not in the US. Can I still pledge to projects? Yes. You can pledge from anywhere.
How do we contact you? You can follow Victoria on twitter @VictoriaWestcot and send her a direct message, or email her at victoria AT elginroad DOT com We'd love to hear from you & we're really great at getting back to people in a timely manner.
