Verum Audio : Planar Magnetic Headphones

When you start a project: - you need a goal. I'm not just talking about bringing a product to mass production and making a profit. Of course it is important to me to create a sustainable business, but that is only to achieve my true goal.
My Goal:
First and foremost I am a music lover, just as many of you are, and like many of you I like to listening to music on great sounding gear.
But what makes something sound great when we’re talking about headphones?

For sure it's not a "mega bass" or "crystal sound" labels on box. Manufacturer can achieve good sound only when realistic sound reproduction is a primary objective and you don't need to care about marketing husk, integrating in latest digital services or making everything "smart".
Hi-fi is so expensive nowadays that it’s become out of reach for a lot of people. With your support I want to change all this and bring down the barriers for music lovers all over the world so that they can hear the music they love the way it should sound.
Verum 1
The result of hard work that took more then 2 years is Verum 1 - planar magnetic headphones.

Verum 1 doesn’t have a conventional speaker driver inside of it. Instead of this I have made my own planar magnetic driver from scratch.

Why "Verum"?
Translation of Verum from Latin is truth. And when I gave a name for this wannabe-a-new-brand headphones I don't only mean truthful sound reproduction. I'm speaking about truth in manufacturer-client relations.
I guarantee that I'll answer all questions regarding design, construction or used materials. The only question I won't answer: how these headphones sounds? It's always better when others evaluate your work.
Verum 1 has surprizes, but don't have secrets!
Sound
A manufacturer can never really be trusted to offer an unbiased opinion about how their product sounds. When a manufacturer speaks about the sound of his product - it's not the information that should be trusted. So before Kickstarting Verum 1 I've sent several samples around the world to people both from top headphone-oriented forums and professional reviewers. It's always better when other people evaluate your work:
Cskippy (Expereinced audio enthusiast,SBAF & Head-Fi top poster):

Quick impressions on sound and build:
- Wow, dynamics are very good
- That bass extends REALLY low
- Very speaker like presentation
- There is a slight haze to the presentation
- Imaging is good but not excellent
- Distortion might be causing the haze in the mid range
- The swivel adjustment is uses a similar screw and bolt system that is very user friendly.
- The headband adjustment is done using the left and right markers which thread in to the headband.
- The magnetic pad attachment is very simple yet effective. More companies should use a system like this.
- Size is large but construction is robust. I don't think they would break if they fell off a desk.

Z Reviews (Reviewing audio stuff on Youtube since 2013) :
It all seems very good and balanced. The Soundstage and airyness are great. If you can keep the price point and comfort you will have a winner.
Headfonics.com ( Site dedicated to audiophile headphones, amplification & sources):

- 1. Bass is super linear, flat (in a good way) and of course very planar like in performance.
- 2. Excellent extension and clarity and you resisted emphasizing and one area. I do wonder if some people will desire something with a bit more mid-bass or sub-bass impact but this is more accurate and true for me, especially out of a resolving amp that can optimize the dynamic range potential of the Verum.
- 3. Soundstage has good depth but primarily due to point 2 rather than huge emphasis.
- 4. Smooth sounding midrange, vocals have next to no overt sibilance and instrumental timbre is also fairly natural sounding.
- 5. Separation and imaging is ok for me. For me the staging here is more live small concert feel than huge arena like, maybe more on the width but not unusual with that slight vocal emphasis.
None of those reviewers has any commecial interest in this project. I'm very thankfull for their interest in this project, their advices and time dedicated to conversation with me ;)
Comfort:

Technology

Specifications:
- 82 mm membrane made from 8 um mylar film
- 96 db sensitivity
- 470 grams
- 12 ohms
Frequency range - that parameter is often speculated by manufacturers, When you see in official specification somethnig like: 5-30000 hz then you should know it's just another marketing trick.
Amplification
What for I need money?
- Moulds
- Stamps
- Assembling devices
How it all began?
I'm an audio enthusiast and DIY-er from Ukraine. Almost 10 years ago I've built my first speaker. During those years many amps, speakers, dacs, tube preamps and othere hi-fi gear were built. But I've never had intensions to build something for others. Every piece of audio equipment I've built - was built for me. Sure, when I got tired with previous audio toy - i was selling it.
But ~ 2 years ago I've decided that it's time to present my creation to audio community and bring it to market.
The whole process of building is desribed in this Head-Fi thread
Sure, Verum has that polished look not from the start ;)
Early prototypes:

Risks and challenges
This project has started more then 2 years ago. And before running KS campaing I've sent many samples all over the world to various expereinced people in personal Hi-Fi community. I've gathered all feedbacks, solved all minor problems and now ready to mass production.
