A group of Brighton based actors and filmmakers have teamed up to work on an ambitious 6 part comedy drama: Juliet & The Shrink - following the life of an awkward and introverted 20-something protagonist who has recently moved to Brighton and falls in with a bunch of quirky misfits.
Director Veronica Jean Trickett has brought together a reliable team of cast and crew with varying levels of experience in the industry, for the production. Most of them live and work in Brighton & Hove.
We plan to show this next year/early 2014 where it will be available to stream online for free, regardless of any broadcast agreements, and for a minimum of 6 months.
Roberta Hammond aka Bertie is an introverted girl, who grew up in the Midlands in England. Loosing both parents at a young age she and her younger sister were raised by a resentful and overbearing older sister and so as a result, Bertie was not encouraged to develop her confidence and social behaviour. As Bertie's odd character unravels, and we begin to understand why she is so extraordinarily quirky: we see how Bertie reacts to socialising with her new coworkers at TelSell Brighton - who are in comparison, every opposite to her; we learn why she must frequent counsellor sessions; and we see how her obsessive behaviour leads her into hilarious predicaments time and time again.
The story is as much about the coworkers at TelSell as it is about Bertie. As we follow the loves, lives, trials and tribulations of a group of clueless misfits, we laugh at the idiotic things they do, but realise that we are not so different ourselves.
Shot at the beginning of the year - this teaser conveys a dream sequence where Bertie is reliving the moment her best friend tells her that she has started seeing Bertie's Ex. Until this point Bertie still held out hopes that they would reunite...

We have been pulling together a reliable team of cast and crew from the beginning of 2012. These collaborators have qualifications from many film and acting institutes and varying levels of experience in the industry.
Detailed information on these members can be seen on our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/JulietAndTheShrink/photos_albums)
The funds are to ensure that the whole cast and crew are able to get to shoot locations, that we have props and costume for scenes, minor equipment purchases, refreshments, to purchase stock footage, the rights to use composed music, print scripts, storyboards, and any other documentation needed and lastly to book rehearsal space and shoot locations (in those instances in which we can't negotiate free space).
The Thank You's!

Digital Artist Marwane Belkas for feedback on our ep. 1 excerpt & Kickstarter videos!
Risks and challenges
The project is an obvious challenge for the team as it requires hours of dedication to create what we hope to be a brilliant series of 6x30 minute episodes.
Our main challenge is to produce something that has the production quality of broadcast television - but without the budget! Having a cast crew that are not only willing to volunteer their time but also their professional equipment means that Juliet & The Shrink will look fantastic without exhausting our budget.
We'll make sure we use any budget we do have wisely! We draw from our production team, who have had professional experience in seeing filming projects through to completion - finding the right resource at a good price by liaising with providers and negotiating costs.
Another challenge is to develop a large script into video in a way that is seamless and enjoyable to watch. We've specifically chosen 30 minute segments as they are an ideal format to convey our story - allowing audiences enough time to fall in love with our characters. We'll make sure that we get feedback from focus groups so that we know we're going in the right direction and we'll make sure we're using all the storyboards, location plans, callsheets and tried and tested filming techniques used in the industry to produce a wonderful viewing experience.
And lastly - the production coordination challenge! Our cast & crew are working for free and on a part time basis, whilst holding down other jobs and commitments. So managing the team and scheduling shoots is a major challenge. However, people have already demonstrated their willingness to dedicate their time to the project - even if it means working on weekends or being flexible with their availability and managing our time is already becoming a finely tuned system.
It's a careful process, where we are forever refining our technique and working together to meet our goal!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
