After her father is killed in the line of duty, Kate and her mom are forced to find work. They soon find themselves hired by the Lady of Castle Carrickdain, to work in an old ruin rumored to be haunted by a ghost with a backwards head...
If you enjoy gothic horror about a castle ruined by its own dark secrets, come check out our comic WOMEN DO NOT CREEP BY DAYLIGHT.
Kate's life is thrown into turmoil when her father is unexpectedly killed in his job as a policeman. She and her mother are forced to look for a job, but no one is hiring two inexperienced maids. Eventually, they are hired by Castle Carrickdain, an undesirable ruin haunted by a lonely aristocrat and a distinct lack of servants.
Kate wonders why the castle has such a hard time finding employees, and soon discovers that there is a rumor of a ghost with a backwards head. The young skeptic decides to investigate the rumor, and soon finds herself tangled up in Carrickdain Castle's terrifying secret.

Kyla Vanderklugt, best known for illustrating girls with swords in Spera and blood-drenched specters in the snow in The Storyteller: Witches, is an illustrator and comic artist, an occasional designer and a pun laureate. Brilliant at setting the mood, she will be handling the moody castle design, the sumptuous clothing styles, and all of the skeletons in the closets of Carrickdain.
Find her more of her work at www.kylavanderklugt.com and future work at First Second.
Our gothic Kickstarter campaign will be up from late June to August, during which time we hope to collect enough money to pay Kyla for her incredible work, print the book and ship it to you lovely punkfolk, as well as the usual heres-and-theres (aka Kickstarter fees, buying packaging supplies, all relevant merchandise, ISBN & barcodes, etc.). The comic will be of usual Greentea Publishing quality; 32 pgs. of story + extras, all in glorious color and large-font format. Our printer is American, so it's a bit more expensive, but we don't mind sacrificing some money to save on costs to the environment.
We are very proud to present some lovely rewards, all designed by the extraordinary Kyla Vanderklugt. We are especially excited to create a Women Do Not Creep By Daylight enamel pin, and are working on designs based on our ghostie...
Kyla made a lovely digital representation of what you will get at each tier, hopefully this will be helpful to those of you who had questions! (If you still do, don't hesitate to ask!)
We are also excited and really proud to present the gorgeous Enamel Pin! (Note: This is a the sample mock-up, so it might look a tiny bit different!)
We are also excited about our mid-tier reward - our spooky door hanger, created to make sure that no one ever disturbs you again, for fear of being disturbed. I mean, why shouldn't your family be afraid of you?
Thank you so much for taking some time to look at our spooky story about ghosts and castles!

Risks and challenges
Greentea Publishing has now been creating projects on Kickstarter for over 5 years. We're proud to say that we've been very professional about making sure that we don't miss our deadlines and follow up with our pledgers about what's happening (and we're even known to chase down a pledger if they forgot to send us their pertinent info - we want everyone to get what they pay for!). We love our supporters and we love to treat them well!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
