About this project
Historically, Venture has been a custom guitar company. We take your brilliant ideas and build them by hand. It’s a long, detailed process, but we love it. It’s what we do, and we take pride in it. This has always been the “customer's guitar company.”
But truth be told, we can only produce about a dozen custom guitars per year. Again, we love building customs. It’s why we started Venture. But there are lots of people out there looking for an alternative to the big, corporate guitar companies who would love to play a Venture. But right now, there are a few reasons why they don’t.
It’s a long wait. Like we said, custom guitars take time. We have a long waiting list, and we hate it as much as you do that you have to wait.
It costs more. That’s just the fact. A custom guitar costs more than one that’s pre-made.
It can be intimidating. If you don’t think so, go to our website and check out the custom order form. If you don’t know exactly what you want, it’s easier to order one that’s already been built.
Those are the challenges we face as a small, independent company. We could import bodies from China to speed up the process. Or limit the number of choices you have with your custom guitar. Or use cheaper materials to cut costs. But we don’t want to do any of those things. We just want to get a Venture guitar into the hands of the people who want one.
For all those reasons, and one more, we ‘d like to introduce a run of our own guitars. The Anna-Lee is Venture's first original body shape. We've borrowed our favorite parts from past guitars and combined them into a perfect bolt-on. The Anna-lee will be an alder body with a bolt-on maple neck sporting an ebony fretboard.
Maybe you can tell, we’re pretty proud of it. And that’s the one other reason I mentioned. We’ve made your custom guitars since we started. This is our first chance to design our guitar. We hope you like it as much as we do, and that the Anna Lee is the first in a series of our original designs.
For the Anna Lee, we’re offering top of the line hardware and your choice of pick ups from 3 companies (Seymour Duncan, Bareknuckle, Lollar). These guitars will be produced in limited color quanities of 25. By supporting our Kickstarter campaign, you’ll be helping to build our initial run of 25 Venture Anna-Lee guitars, and helping to build Venture itself.
The Anna-Lee will feature:
- 2 piece Master Grade alder body
- 1 piece Master Grade 5A flamed maple neck
- Master Grade ebony fingerboard
- Control cavity cover
- 25.5" scale length
- 1 volume, 1 tone, and 3 way switch
- Abalone or pearl side dots
- Dunlop straplocks
- Your choice of pickups
- Gotoh 510 tuners & Gotoh wraparound bridge
- Bone Nut
- Jumbo frets

Risks and challenges
We are gathering the materials needed to begin production on the Anna-Lee now. Once our goal is achieved, with your help (thanks!), our team is going to hit the ground running. We'll begin building the Anna Lee guitars, in our new shop, with the machines you helped us buy. You rule. It's going to be tough, but we'll be working hard. It's what we love to do.
One challenge that may come up, which isn't a problem really - the more we sell, the longer the wait for a guitar may be. We plan on tackling this by hiring more hands to help as more orders come in.
For examples of our work, please check out our site and browse our gallery. We pride ourselves on our work, we and hope you dig it, too.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
