I'm about three-quarters finished with Girls Gone Rogue, a companion volume to Alpha Blue.
Alpha Blue is a humorous and sexual science-fiction RPG taking place in the 23rd century, but from a 1970's perspective (although the 60's and 80's also qualify, depending on your nostalgia-fueled preferences).
Girls Gone Rogue will be somewhere around 50 pages and will contain more tables for character, setting, and story creation to help Space Dungeon Masters manage their universe. [I just finished writing a d100 table called Peculiarities of Female NPCs based upon my love of Seinfeld and gratuitous dating experiences]
But most importantly, GGR will contain several scenarios, some longer, some shorter, that will allow for months of sci-fi campaigning. Specifically, these adventures will be influenced by Firefly/Serenity, Blade Runner, Escape From New York, Star Wars, and many more!
Basically, a sex-bot by the name of Ilsa SS has gone berserk and is killing high-ranking officials of the Federation. PCs are "persuaded" to seek and destroy her. Everything else flows from there or is some kind of unrelated side-adventure.
What system / game mechanics Alpha Blue does have are minimal (d6 dice pools like Crimson Dragon Slayer and The Outer Presence). Almost everything will be usable for any sci-fi RPG you prefer.
Here's a recent review of Alpha Blue:
Glynn of MonkeyBlood Design is working on a vintage-looking map of a cantina / bar / nightclub. The map will be a floor plan of three nearly identical locations featured in Girls Gone Rogue, for maximum usage.
Why another Kickstarter? Money. I want enough for the artwork and extras like the map - oh yeah, I forgot to mention, the map will be detailed enough to have printed and laminated (as I plan on doing) at about 22" x 36".
Why is this KS limited with backer rewards, tiers, etc.? I want to focus on making this book great, while limiting the hassle of fulfillment. But don't worry, I'm planning a pulling-out-all-the-stops Kickstarter this summer and THAT one will have plenty of extras like leather dice pouches, custom dice, wooden dice trays, etc.
Ok, I threw in a few extras for the top tier backers... this is a look at the t-shirt I'm throwing in for the $111...
If this project gets up to $1,500, the cantina/bar/club map will be freely available to everyone in the world!
If this project reaches a whopping $2,000, then... I'll have Glynn make another starship map (completely different than the Blue Flamingo)!
Even though I'm optimistic, I don't think we're going to hit $3,000, but if we do....... I'm going to somehow organize one giant, three-day, play-by-email-or-chat game of Alpha Blue for all the backers who want to participate in May, 2016. Not exactly sure how it'll work, but I know that it will be legen-some & awe-dary COMBINED!!!!!!! (Yes, I'm totally serious)
NEW STRETCH GOALS [added on 2/12/16]: If we reach $3,500, I will pistol-whip Glynn until he ejaculates yet another starship, this time a smaller, lighter, faster, evasive-action, combat-ready infiltrator vessel commonly referred to as "Tiny Dancer"! I really want this to happen, so spread the word for this KS, please.
Oh man, Glynn now wants to do one more starship reminiscent of an octopus. The silhouette and concept are cool, so I didn't have the heart to tell him no. Let's make this shit happen, too. I'm putting the Octopian class ship as a $4,000 stretch goal. Tentacles crossed!
Risks and challenges
This isn't anything I haven't done a half-dozen times already. Plus, it's already half-written with most of the artwork in hand or commissioned.
As long as I'm able, I'll get this done.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
