A lot has happened this past year and it’s been a roller coaster ride to get to this point but we’re extremely grateful that you stayed with us throughout this process. When we launched the Kickstarter campaign we’d assessed the risks and challenges to be linked with third parties, but we did not know how complex supply-chain management could be. We have learned a lot by going through the first production cycle. What we also did not take into account a year ago was the additional capital we’d need to invest in tooling so that our special parts could be produced. We’ve started manufacturing the second production run with partners we can trust and with the required machines and tooling.
A real highlight in the past year though was when the VELLO bike was awarded the prestigious design prize - the Red Dot: Best of the Best 2015.
The VELLO bike was selected out of 4.928 design submissions from around the world. In the words of the jury: "This folding bike fascinates with sophisticated functionality perfectly adapted to everyday use in urban areas. It captivates users with its well-balanced details and allows intuitive folding to a compact size. Equipped with multiple gears and specially designed magnetic shock absorbers, the bike delivers outstanding riding comfort. A beautiful bike that offers itself as an ideal companion for everyday use".
We’re also happy to announce that our innovations have been reviewed by the patent examiner and have been awarded patents. Our trademark is also registered. Now we’re ready to sell at larger scale -- again, thank you so much for making it possible!
