On the home stretch and ten days to go
We're on the home stretch and on course - halfway through the campaign and 58% funded!
Thank you, not just for pledging but sharing and letting people know about the campaign. There was a peak in clicks after I asked you to share it last weekend, so thank you!
I've been touch by phone and email to experts and staff at religious and cultural institutions - like the Ashram that Gandhi lived in in Ahmedabad.
Interviews are pencilled in interviews with historians in - for example - Delhi and Kolkata. With your help, I'll be able to interview a researcher about her work on his inscriptions as we're standing next to an Ashoka rock edict in the Asiatic Society in Kolkata. (Ashoka is the Indian king that boasted in stone edicts of how many animals his kitchen spared.)
- Cookie von Stir, aka Els Merry-Price ("A full history in such an accessible format would be a fascinating and enormously useful resource, and with the power of Kickstarter it’s possible to get in at beginning of what’s going to be an epic journey.")
- LA-based news blog "Of Course Vegan"
And you can hear me being interviewed by:
- The wonderfully irreverent Jordan and Jeremy at Which Side podcast
- Avon of Vegan World Radio on KPFT Houston TX - which includes excerpts from some of Avon's favourite shows, so isn't a bad introduction to The Vegan Option (download MP3 52.6MB, 56min)
Finally, as mentioned on the Kickstarter video, The Vegan Option is now on British Public Radio. It's part of British Public Radio's showcase of quality speech radio alternatives to the BBC. It really demonstrates that radio from vegan perspectives can break through and be interesting to a mainstream audience - exactly what I want to achieve with "Vegetarianism: The Story So Far".
Please keep spreading the word to people who'd be interested in getting involved. There are just ten days to hit the target - and as you know, if it doesn't get funded, it doesn't get funded at all.
