The Kickstarter Rewards at the post office
The Kickstarter Rewards at the post office

Your rewards are posted, and the episode planner is down from my ceiling. The project is done. I can barely believe it.

Some of the people who helped on the project gathered for the ceremonial lowering of the episode planner. You can watch me (and BB the cat) on Facebook video.

If you're in Europe you should get your reward this month; if in the Americas in July, but the two backers in New Zealand might not get it until August. Please let me know if it hasn't arrived. (Tanya Sitton - I need to confirm your address.)

Backer Will Howliston has got his already, and tweeted some pics of his "very cool" USB stick.

That's not the end of vegetarian history for me; I have a new episode transcript to put up, some more ways of telling the story to think about, and plan to put the timeline poster online. Nor am I going away from podcasting (and you can vote on or suggest ideas for episodes at allourideas.org/veganoption ).

Many, many, thanks.

Putting together the cases for the USB sticks
Putting together the cases for the USB sticks

The timelines are designed and printed. The USB sticks have been designed, redesigned for a cheaper vendor, and imported from China. The cases for the USB sticks have been put together by my own fair hands. The USB sticks have been loaded up with the podcast series, the Resonance FM broadcast edit, an audiobook single-file format, ringtones of Robb Masters' excellent theme tunes, and more.

The campaign ran in 2013 - and I'm a bit worried that some of you might have moved since then. Please, if you've moved since Feb 2013 and backed at the £30+ tier, log into the questionnaire to update your address. (You can message me instead if you don't find the old questionnaire user-friendly). If you don't, the rewards of your taste and generosity will land on someone else's doorstep.

It's been a long journey to get the series together, and a long codicil to put the rewards together as well. It's hard to believe that this project is about to finish.

Final Vidchat Sat 17th Mar 6pm GMT / 1pm EST - Ancient Ideas about Animals

Posted by Ian McDonald, The Vegan Option (Creator)

For the final vidchat we're going right back to the beginning.

Prof James Serpell appeared in the first episode to talk about the ideas that hunter-gatherers hold about animals, including their guilt over killing them.

We're also joined by Nicholas Baker-Brian, a historian of religion in the ancient world, whom I interviewed about the Manichaeans. Their lost order of the "elect" maintained a vegan diet and persisted throughout the middle ages.

This is your chance to ask questions of them or me about the whole sweep of vegetarian history, and making the series. After this final vidchat, I'll be putting the capstone on the project by sending rewards to Backers.

Backers have a VIP invite - to join the chat and ask your question yourself. (If you'd like to do this, let me know in advance and I can do a technical test to ensure it'll work.) Send questions by email to me at firstname-at-domainname; or tag @VeganOption on Twitter, use the #VegHist hashtag, or use the Google Chat attached to the VidChat.

We'll be live on YouTube here:

Looking forward to seeing you,

Ian
