Everything you wanted in a Key Chain!
TriKey has been designed to be modular, light weight, durable and water resistant. With these features in mind, we have been working with our engineers to develop what we believe is the start of bringing keys into the 21st century.
The Trikey only weighs 40 grams including the LED and battery. It is made out of three pieces of aluminum and our prototypes have been used for the last three months with constant improvements.
We have worked hard to make sure TriKey remains completely versatile, we have designed our middle plate to be able to act as a stand-alone piece or in connection with our TPod.
A set of keys, while archaic, is used every day with a niggling worry that we do no lose them.
Because losing your keys is a costly exercise: locksmith and new locks as well as additional stress of worrying about your family’s safety.
For this reason, we have looked at a number of technologies to include in the TriKey design:
This update focuses on the procedure that you, the backer and good citizen - the one who finds your TriKey, will follow to use TriKey Locate.
A sunken waterproof Quick Response Code (QR Code) has been added on the underside of TriKey. We aim to combine the QR Code with an optional Near Field Communication (NFC) sticker (more on that in a future update). For the purposes of this update, the QR Code and NFC will follow the same process with the exception that a QR Code is scanned while the NFC is tapped.
We have designed the QR Code/NFC logic to work on most free/paid scanners available on the market; therefore the person who locates your TriKey will not need to have installed the TriKey Mobile Application. We do recommend, however, that you install the TriKey Mobile Application as it will have the ability to notify you when someone has located your keys.
QR Codes and NFC devices can store a short number of characters, such as a phone number or website. In the case of TriKey, we have opted to store a unique ID and a secure website URL. To support this functionality, we will be developing a specialised webserver/website to aid in the recovery of your TriKey.
While we could get your details and load them into the QR Code and place it onto your KickStarter Limited Edition TriKey, it would mean you could not update your details unless you create your own QR code over and over. In addition, you might be concerned about privacy – anyone who scans the code will get your details and the last thing you want is your personal information (number, address, name, etc.) and your keys to be directly linked!
We are building a TriKey website, where you can login and update your QR Code details. This means that when you lose your keys, someone can scan the code and your Name and Number will pop up ready to dial.
We believe that QR codes can provide a great benefit to any key chain
While others may charge for such a basic feature, we have made sure that your TriKey or BiKey is ready for even the most impromptu party!
These are just a few of the features we are going to market with. We have many, many more idea's including Bluetooth addon.
We are looking forward to our backers feedback and idea's on what they want to see in their TriKey.
In a world filled with technology, we are dragged back into the dark ages screaming every time we need to reach for those pesky keys.
While we have not solved that conundrum, we have figured out a way of incorporating technology with these cumbersome, yet essential pieces of metal.
With projects such as Pressy and Chipolo [Which has the same space inside as we do in TriKey] bringing micro-circuitry to kickstarter we believe that the world is ready to embrace a technologically-enabled keychain.
We have plans, big plans to change the way you view your keys. We have the expertise to provide features such as bluetooth connectivity and supporting apps for both android and iPhone.
Our project is aimed at testing the water for demand, and then following up that demand with exciting stretch goals that are attainable in the near future.
There are so many smart kickstarter backers out there and we do not want to limit your imagination.
We are currently at the prototyping stage, we have been through many iterations and all the prototypes have been either built using 3D printing or on a CNC machine. Every TriKey prototype has been manually assembled by us.
We have reached out to manufacturers and suppliers and we are eager to take TriKey to market with your help, however minimum order quantity is an issue.
We have built out campaign around the issue and are confident if we hit our goal, and any subsequent stretch goals that we will be able to fulfill any minimum order restrictions.
Our team is comprised of experienced and skilled individuals.
We opened our doors on the 1st of March 2010 and have been involved across various projects both large and small.
As a family business we are able to adapt to almost any changes quickly and efficiently. We trust and respect each other and this ensures that we remain operating like a well oiled machine.
Trikey has been our primary focus for a year now. We have taken various models, designed them, printed them on a 3D printer and used them in the real world.
With our purchase of a CNC machine, we have been milling aluminum Trikeys and they have been a great success among our friends and family.
We have a team of Engineers who have worked on large scale, small scale and projects in between. We know what is needed to succeed, and we have the ability to build the minimum quantity of Trikey's at our warehouse in Australia.
We have some pretty awesome stretch goals which if activated, would require additional logistics, but once again this campaign is built around what the manufacturers and suppliers require, and how we can ensure we meet their requirements.
In conclusion, we believe we are fully capable of delivering on our promises on time and with the quality one would expect from a team such as ours!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
We believe kickstarter is a great source of untapped knowledge and we have been amazed at some backers suggestions on other projects. We believe that kickstarter should be used to not only fund ready to market projects but also projects that are able to be molded by input from the backers.
We have our own CnC machine and 3D printer, this will allow us to take your suggestion and incorporate them in our project. For all to benefit from.
No, we are going to be improving our design over the course of the kickstarter campaign as you can see in our timeline we are going to spend quite sometime making sure everything is perfect for you!
The short answer is 9.
The long answer is anything between 1 and 9. We are finalising our spacers to cater for those who don't have keys in multiples of 3.
On top of that our stretch goals include other items which can be used to fill those gaps up.
Our top plate, known as a Tpod is interchangeable.
We have come to kickstarter with one top, however we are working on a few Tpods as stretch goals.
Our Goal is to offer various types of TPod's each with their own unique uses. On top of that we also have made our Middle Plate able to be utilized as either a 3 Piece TriKey or a thinner 2 Piece BiKey
