With this project, I am raising funds to help feed my talented cast and crew, find outstanding wardrobe and set locations, transport my cast and crew, and make every part of my creative vision possible to tell the best story.
This film is the pinnacle of my college career at the Savannah College of Art and Design. This is my last change to show everyone what I've learned and who I am as a filmmaker. I am one of the first students to write, direct, and star in my own thesis film. I want to go out with a bang, to say the least.
This story deserves to be told and has a special place in my heart for many reasons. Invisible disability in simple terms is a physical, mental or neurological condition that limits a person’s movements, senses, or activities that is invisible to the onlooker. Unfortunately, these symptoms are invisible can lead to misunderstandings, false perceptions, and judgments. I am drawing awareness and creating a dialogue for what millions of people live with that goes unnoticed. A portion of your donations will go to the Invisible Disabilities Association and will help us realize our vision of a world where people living with illness, pain and disability will be Invisible No More!
This film also incorporates inspiration from the very films that drove me to become an actor and filmmaker. Any film with Audrey of Katherine Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart, and Carey Grant are my favorites, despite what I'm told to watch in film school. Theres something about classic Hollywood that goes straight to your heart. My love for music, dance, and musicals are also sprinkled throughout the film.
Many people have impacted me through my lifespan of 22 years, but something is to be said about the unbreakable, Agape-like love of a Grandfather. They will always hold a very special place in my heart, and I see them up in the night sky, hear them in a song, or hug them as tight as I can while I still can. The legacy of love from any family member deserves to be cherished, and I intend to share mine immortalized by film.
My name is Hannah Dovnik, and I'm a young lady born and raised in the heart of Wisconsin. And yes, I absolutely love cows. Their dairy products on the other hand, do not love me. I joke that that is why Wisconsin threw me out, but if it were up to my friends and family, they would love and keep me there forever. I made the tough decision to move over 1000 miles away to pursue my dreams. I still collaborate and keep in touch with them of course. I also have lived with an invisible disease of my own, pretty much my whole life. It has brought on some extra challenges, but I have always found a way to keep fighting and create my own path in life. I would never have made it where I am now without that loving support of friends and family. This is my chance to give back and show those close to me just how much they've impacted my life, no matter how big or small their impact may have been.
This story deserves to be told. I hope that with your help, we can bring more people together, support, and share the universal love for film and family.
Risks and challenges
Some challenges that come with filmmaking on a college budget and schedule, is finding the best way to use our time and money. Pinching pennies is what I do best, and being resourceful with my equipment and crew can easily be done. Finding a way to do so takes time away from the creative vision, so that's where you come in to help!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
