About this project

ABOUT US
VANITY is a contemporary brand for the bold fashionista who seeks to defy the boundaries of femininity. The term "VANITY" often has a negative connotation; however, there's nothing vain about being a woman who is confident in who she is and will compromise her ambitions for no one. With intentions of breaking the mold, designer Kameron Simpson seeks to create a line that allows women to simply be themselves. VANITY aims to be playful, risqué and exciting; sometimes all at the same time. Far different from the norm, the designs transcend limitations by creating something new and original. Beyond being just another brand, VANITY is a means of embracing who you are rather than the cookie-cutter version of who you're pre-determined to be.

The VANITY woman is a fashion savvy individual who holds her tongue for no one, makes her own rules, and doesn't solely rely upon her appearance to define who she is. VANITY seeks to challenge all claims that a woman’s style cannot breach strength, individuality and feminine flair simultaneously. Madonna Ciccone said it best: "I'm tough, I'm ambitious, and I know exactly what I want. If that makes me a bitch, okay."

OUR PLANS
The lengthy list of expenses that go into putting a collection together are extremely costly. With countless work days and nights slaving over my sewing machine (most of the time without sleep yet with endless perseverance), the incredible amount of time and energy that I devote to my line is all balanced hand-in-hand with me being a full-time college student. The combination of hard work paired with the tremendous amount of support that I've received from my friends and family has helped me to get to where I am now. However, self-funding my collection is extremely difficult. Because of my limited funds, my creative vision and plans for my line have far exceeded my bare wallet. While I'm always up for the challenge to make do with what I have, it has become a never-ending battle in doing things on my own to making my designing dreams a reality.

VANITY is well on its way in becoming a brand that will carve a niche in fashion by creating garments that express and embody nothing short of female empowerment. But in order to build upon this momentum, find potential investors, reach new customers, increase sales, and change the boundaries of women's contemporary fashion, VANITY needs your support and participation to help fund the upcoming A/W 2010 collection! The winter season is rapidly approaching and VANITY is developing more and more in preparation for the season to come. So join in and PLEDGE NOW to be a part of making the premiere collection come out with a bang!

MAKING THE COLLECTION
Here is a breakdown of some of the things your generous contributions will help fund:

PURCHASING FABRIC:
Finding quality fabric makes the designs come to life. Fabrics are sourced and prices are finalized before being used for garment sampling.

PRINTING THE FABRIC:
After using a computer to enhance and perfect images that are originally drafted from my sketchbook, I will put the graphics into repeat and prepare the file for printing. Once the prints have been finalized and the colors have been chosen, these high-resolution files are sent to the print factory and sample yardage is produced.

MAKING THE PATTERNS:
Patterns will be drafted based off of my detailed sketches of each specific garment within the collection. Fit samples are then sewn and any necessary adjustments are made. Patterns are cut from the final printed fabric after fit samples meet the style of each garment.

SEWING THE SHOW SAMPLES:
Once the printed fabric is ready, all approved patterns are sewn into a finished garment.

SELLING THE COLLECTION

LOOKBOOK PRINTING: Once the samples are completed, a lookbook of the collection will be shot to showcase the garments and bring each look to life for your viewing pleasure. A professional model will be chosen to wear the garments in a photoshoot that will take place either in a studio or at a unique location that enhances the collection's vision. The looks will then be compiled into a photo booklet for buyers and promotional purposes.

LINE SHEET PRINTING:
This is a full-color document that buyers reference to place orders. Each garment is given a style number and includes a detailed sketch along with wholesale prices, colorways, prints, fabrications, and sizing for each item being sold.

SALES / SHOWROOM RENTAL: This is the most essential component of the entire process. The sales showroom is a chance for buyers to see the collection up close and on the rack. Quality, fit, color, style, fabrication, all play a part in their decision to buy. They will then make a selection of pieces that work best for their store and once orders are confirmed a deposit for production will be made! An online store will also be created to reach an even larger audience of savvy fashionistas.

And now for the fun part!!!: To show my deep appreciation for your support, in return for your pledge you will get all sorts of fabulous VANITY rewards! ...but only if you PLEDGE NOW!
