Somos Valeria y Patricia, una niña de 10 años y su profesora-mentora de robótica y programación. Estamos en la ciudad de Huesca y durante el año 2018 hemos sido invitadas a diferentes eventos para que pudiéramos hablar sobre todo lo que estábamos haciendo en nuestra academia, mostrando nuestros proyectos de robótica, programación, impresión 3D y electrónica. Nuestro trabajo ha sido reconocido por la Fundación Inspiring Girls, que nombró a Valeria la Inspiring Girl del año en 2018, premio entregado por la Directora General de Twitter en España. Cada vez nos invitan a dar más charlas, para que podamos inspirar y motivar a niñas y a niños (sobre todo a niñas!), que entiendan la importancia del mundo STEAM. 

Hi! We are Valeria and Patricia, a ten-year old girl and her teacher/mentor of coding and robotics, living in Huesca, a small city in the north of Spain. During 2018 we were invited to several different technology events, where we talked about the many things we were doing in our academy, showing our projects in robotics, programming, 3D printing and electronics—our work has even been recognized by Inspiring Girls, who gave Valeria the prize of Inspiring Girl of the year in 2018, given by Twitter’s Managing Director from Spain. Every time we participated at an event we received more invitations to for presentations; they wanted us to motivate and inspire girls and boys (especially girls!), so that they could understand the importance of the STEAM world.

The following video comes from a very popular web program in Spain, where they make videos about people doing different things in the world of technology. Our video has had over 150,000 views and was published on national newspapers. It was a program by Vodafone, a telecom company in Spain, under a section called ¨Connected Families¨. You can see us and get to know us a bit better:  

Durante este año hemos visto la reacción de cientos de niñas que quieren ser como Valeria, niñas que pensaban que el mundo de la tecnología no era para ellas, pero que al ver a otra niña se daban cuenta de que ellas también podían hacerlo. Nuestro canal quiere inspirar y enseñar a niñas de España y de América Latina, para que gracias a nuestros vídeos puedan aprender, divertirse y darse cuenta que si quieren ser ingenieras es algo que podrán hacer aunque sean niñas.

During this last year we have seen how girls react in our presentations, how they want to be like Valeria. Girls that thought the world of technology was not for them, but when they saw a 10 year-old girl they realized that they could also do it, and that it was fun to do it. Our channel wants to inspire and show girls, mainly from Spain and from Latin America since we will start doing videos in Spanish. Thanks to our videos they will have fun, they will learn, and they will realize that if they want to be engineers they can be engineers, even if they are girls.

¿Qué gastos tenemos?

• Vídeos - 200 euros por grabación, edición y publicación de cada vídeo, nos gustaría hacer al menos 50 a lo largo de 2019
• Imagen de ValPat - Materiales para el canal y para todo lo relacionado con ValPat
• Materiales necesarios para que Valeria y Patricia puedan trabajar, así como materiales que necesiten para vídeos que vayan haciendo
• Página web de ValPat
• Ayuda externa para la gestión de las redes sociales de ValPat
• Promoción del canal para poder llegar al mayor número de niños y niñas

Si conseguimos más fondos crearemos muchos más vídeos y profesionalizaremos más el canal, con el objetivo de poder llegar a muchas más niñas. Invertiremos en la difusión del canal por redes sociales, para conseguir muchos más seguidores, y añadiremos más diseño y creatividad a los vídeos, para que sean lo más atractivo posibles para niños y niñas.

What expenses do we have?

• Videos - 200 euros for recording, editing and publishing each video; we´d like to make at least 50 in 2019 
• ValPat´s image and branding - Materials and branding for everything related to ValPat 
• Materials for Valeria and Patricia to work, as well as for tools needed for the different videos we will be making
• Creating and maintaining the ValPat website
• Hiring a community Manager for ValPat´s social media management
• Promoting our channel to reach as many kids as possible with our videos

By hitting our funding goal, we will not only be able to make many more professional videos, but also  be able to reach many more girls from all over the world, to inspire them to reach their goals in the STEAM world. We will invest in the promotion of the channel via social media, in order to get more followers and expand the impact of the channel. We will also have more budget for creativity and design inside our videos, to make them as entertaining and educational as possible for boys and girls.

Ya hemos conseguido el apoyo de Indra (GRACIAS!!!) para poder preparar los primeros vídeos del canal. Y estamos cerca de conseguir apoyo de otra compañía para una de las secciones, que nos permitirá hacer unos cuantos vídeos más. Pero necesitamos mucha más ayuda para hacer las cosas bien, para no preocuparnos del dinero que cuesta todo lo que hacemos, y para poder centrarnos en el contenido de los vídeos, que puedan ayudar a muchos niños y niñas.

We have already received the support of Indra (THANKS!!!), the most important engineering company in Spain, and with their donation we have been able to make our first videos. We are close to getting a second sponsorship, for another section of the channel. However, we need much more help to do things well, and we don't want to be worried about money—we just want to be focused on making as many projects and videos as possible, so that we can share our knowledge and experiences with boys and girls from all over the world.

Nuestro objetivo es inspirar a miles de niñas, de todo el mundo, para que entiendan que pueden ser lo que quieran ser, y que el mundo STEAM es divertido y es muy importante para su futuro. 

Our objective is to inspire thousands of girls, from all over the world, so that they can understand that they can be anything they want to be, and that STEAM fields are fun and are very important for their future.
