It’s time for Valley Meadows to make an album! Our goal is to make a record that's so loaded with hilarious lyrics and bangin’ beats that everyone who listens to it feels tingly in their guts and immediately rushes out to buy a pregnancy test.
And we need your help to do it.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with Kickstarter here’s how it works: People like you make a pledge towards our fundraising goal. In exchange we (Chris and Zach) promise to use the money to make the funniest album we can. The catch is that if we don’t raise our fundraising goal then you don’t pay a dime! You know what else is cool?
EVERYONE WHO CONTRIBUTES IS INVITED TO A PARTY!!!
That’s right! We have a bunch of great premiums to give away, but everyone who contributes a dollar or more is invited to our CD release party! Whether you’re just finding out about Valley Meadows for the first time or if you’re already a hardcore fan, we promise that this album will be the laughing-est, boom bappin'-est comedy/hip-hop album we can possibly make.
In other words, where are we gonna put 'em? On the ceiling you guys. We're gonna put 'em on the ceiling.
WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING...
"A good use of rhyming! And more relatable than Biggie and Tupac for this Midwesterner." - Comedian Mary Mack
"I love booking Valley Meadows. Audiences love them and they're very handsome." - Joke Joint Comedy Club owner Ken Reed
"If Valley Meadows isn't the future of both hip-hop AND comedy, then I'm not a gigantic bearded fellow. I love them!" - Stand Up! Records owner and Grammy Award winning producer Dan Schlissel
WHERE WILL THE MONEY GO?
While it's true that space age technology has made the recording process cheaper and more accessible than ever before, it's still (very often) the case that you get what you pay for. Our goal is to produce an album that sounds great, is well mixed and mastered, and if everything goes really well, includes some of our favorite musicians from the Twin Cities scene. That's going to cost a couple bucks.
After paying musicians, recording, mixing, mastering, pressing the actual discs and shipping them out to supporters we estimate that our total costs will be around $4500. Tom and Gary have scratched together about half of that. A successful Kickstarter puts us over the top to get into the studio and get to work!
In the (extremely wonderful) event that we raise more than $2500 our next move will be to take a couple of the songs from the album and make music videos to support them. Director Matt Olson (2 films screened at Cannes and an Emmy to his credit!) has agreed to work with us to continue bringing the story of Tom and Gary to a wider audience.
Thanks for reading, and thanks for considering us.
Love, Tom and Gary
