NEW STRETCH GOAL AND REWARDS!!! - $3000 We have reached our funding goal!!! Thanks so much to all of you for backing Urban Soil. However, the goal represents a number we thought we could reach and not the full cost of producing this album. We appreciate and welcome any pledges above and beyond our goal and can't thank you all enough!!! See the rewards to the right for new tiers. AGAIN, we want to thank everyone who has contributed so far, you all mean the world to US! =)
Welcome to our Kickstarter page and for taking the time to check us out! We started this campaign to help pay for some of the costs associated with releasing our debut album "Dig Deeper". The project is mapped out to be paid for with money we earn playing live, but we also need that money to live, hence this kickstarter campaign. This is your vehicle for advance purchasing of the album and for supporting Urban Soil. We have some great rewards set up that we really hope you'll enjoy. Thank you in advance for your pledge! Since the band's inception in 2012, we have grown significantly and have settled into a great groove. Urban Soil recorded a 3 song EP in 2012, "Germinate", which was well received by fans. Now, two years later, we feel the time is right to release a more fleshed out collection of songs. The material has developed substantially, over the last year and it now warrants a full album project.
We have nearly wrapped up all of the tracking for the album and are having a great time with the entire creative process. The album is being tracked, mixed, and mastered in its entirety at Bongo John Studio in Morrisville, NC - a suburb of Raleigh. "Bongo" John Metcalf is a brilliant, composer, performer, engineer/producer. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to collaborate with him on this exciting project.
Accompanying the album will be a music video to the title track of the CD, "Dig Deeper". The video was recorded at Crazy Camp Music Park in Durham, NC and The Pourhouse Music Hall in Raleigh, NC. Bongo John will be engineering and producing this video as well.
Here's a photo of the beautiful "live art" created by Kyra Platt at our recent video shoot show. This is one of a kind piece and available to one lucky person for their pledge of support! Live art by Kyra Platt Live art by Kyra Platt
Urban Soil is focused on creating the best possible original music. The combination of all out electrified, jam band inspired musical explorations and the more Americana, acoustic flavors makes Urban Soil truly unique. Sarah's young, powerful voice is complex and thought provoking, while being strong and soulful at the same time. Eric and the rest of the band provide a tight, concise backdrop for her to fully explore the sonic space.
Risks and challenges
A common challenge with large projects like this is staying on schedule. That is the biggest challenge we face. We are a working band, so it can be difficult to carve out the studio time, but we have managed it! We have a CD Release party show August 15th at The Pourhouse Music Hall in Raleigh, NC. The schedule and "drop dead" deadlines will be the most important things to bear in mind.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
