HELP US BRING THIS FREE EVENT IN BROOKLYN BRIDGE PARK THIS SUMMER!
To paraphrase the old adage, "it takes a photo community to build a photo village". And like an any village, Photoville is about community-building and the ties that bind us together through shared experiences. With your support, we can make this a truly free event for everyone to visit, explore, and participate!

WHAT IS PHOTOVILLE?
Photoville (photovillenyc.org) is a new Brooklyn-based photo destination - a veritable village of freight containers transformed into temporary exhibition spaces, taking place this summer from June 22 to July 1, 2012.
Photoville will feature a feisty mix of exhibitions, lectures, hands-on workshops, nighttime projections, a photo dog run, a camera greenhouse, and a summer beer-garden with food trucks that will create a photography destination like no other.
THIS IS YOUR VILLAGE! HELP BUILD IT!
I want to turn the clock back to when people lived in small villages and took care of each other.
-Pete Seeger
We want you, in the Kickstarter nation, to know that we are taking care of you and that Photoville is happening no matter what. Our exhibitions are locked in and the line up is simply amazing (check out the updates page), but your Kickstarter participation will be helping create attractions that will make Photoville the gem of Brooklyn this summer because we are turning this....

into this...

Pretty cool right! :)
So here's how it all breaks down:
If we can reach our goal of $30,000, your contributions will helps us pay for:
Design and produce a full color catalogue detailing all of our exhibitions, workshops & talks, and partners -- distributed for FREE!
Cover the costs of creating "The Greenhouse" a new public art photographic installation by Brazillian artist Andre Feliciano.
Procure all the materials needed for our truly one-of-a-kind Photoville Dog Run (complete with walk-in Camera Obscura!!).
Subsidize the costs for building the dedicated spaces devoted to our FREE lecture series, FREE workshops, and FREE nighttime events.
Any funds raised beyond our $30,000 goal will go towards supporting our rapidly developing public art initiative (formal announcement coming soon), offering local New York City artists the opportunity to exhibit in unconventional ways and spaces throughout Brooklyn.
WHERE IS PHOTOVILLE?
Occupying more than 60,000 sq. feet in the heart of Brooklyn Bridge Park, Photoville will be located on the uplands of Pier 3, along the Brooklyn Waterfront between DUMBO and Atlantic Avenue.
(If you're curious on what will be going on during Photoville, take a look at our amazing group of programming partners)
BE PART OF OUR COMMUNITY AND HELP US BUILD PHOTOVILLE! TELL YOUR FRIENDS! TWEET! FACEBOOOK! SEND A MILLION AND ONE CARRIER PIGEONS!
THE REWARDS!

Life is about giving and taking, and this is no different. We truly appreciate your support, and this is our way of saying thank you!
Everyone who supports us will receive an awesome limited edition PHOTOVILLE "MUNICIPAL" BOND (consider it a thank-you note from us here @ United Photo Industries) as well as an acknowledgment not only on our website but also on an oversized sign naming each and every one of our wonderful supporters within the PHOTOVILLE village!
Plus, this is a cool opportunity to start (or expand) your art collection by acquiring amazing artwork kindly donated by some of our favorite photographers we have worked with in the past year - such as New York's own Viktor Koen,

Brazilian master-gardener Andre Feliciano, who has donated much of his time and creations to this campaign (see below more information on Andre!)

our favorite photographic duo Nate Larson & Marni Shindleman,

fellow Greek Alexandros "can't keep a good man down" Lambrovassilis (who has survived two near-fatal accidents this year, with pure optimism, and an unbreakable spirit),

and of course our good friend and superbly talented Israeli photographer Eran Gilat.

NOW, YOU ASK - WHO IS ANDRE FELICIANO?

Every Village needs a Greenhouse - so the United Photo Industries team are partnering with Artist and Gardener André Feliciano, in creating a magical and unique Greenhouse - smack-bang in the middle of PHOTOVILLE!
André Feliciano does not cultivate tomatoes, or cucumbers; he cultivates a garden where taking a photo is a natural and necessary part of the ecosystem. Curious what could possibly sprout in a photographic greenhouse?
United Photo Industries is proud to commission and support such a visionary artist - and we look forward to seeing what he cooks up for us!
