I am halfway through remixing a bunch of my tracks, many from Casualties but some from earlier albums, to optimize danceability.
A sampler of three tracks that are mostly done is here:
I have released remix kits for two songs, and will release more and announce them soon, so that people have the opportunity to try their own. I have a few other artists specifically lined up to make remixes, too.
[UPDATE: official info on remixing is here and everyone is welcome to try their hand at it! http://unwoman.com/remix.html]
The finished album will have at least 12 tracks, probably more, and will be downloadable to kickstarter backers before anyone else, however I intend to make it free/pay-what-you-want on Bandcamp because my goal is to get it into the hands of every goth/industrial/steampunk DJ without requiring them to send me requests for download codes.
What I need funding for is mastering -- for online releases like my new single The City I feel OK mastering it myself; however if these are to sound their best on the dance floor I need to hire a professional (such as http://corrosive-audio.com/ who has mastered my other CD releases.) I also want to press a small number (~200) of CDRs for folks who are attached to physical media.
[UPDATE 10-17] Yowza, within 2 days this had met its goal and I am still getting pledges in. I feel I should account for where the extra money will go that you guys are generously putting in. I still plan to have the album mastered (I have a guy) and a short run pressed, but I might make the CDR pressing a bit fancier than the no-frills version I'd planned. With another $100-200, I will order posters and promotional cards or business cards along with the CDRs. If my total is more than those costs, I'll start saving for Heavy Sugar Duo recording sessions, so that Felix and I can play shows together and have albums to sell that are the two of us. (I will probably do a separate kickstarter for that project, and/or look for a local indie label to support it.)
