[Edit Feb 5 -- what a great start! I forgot to mention -- every backer will be able to download new songs, about one per week, during the course of the project. Starting with Lullaby Feb 6. Just $1 to get in on this action!]
I have eleven songs completely written for my next album, my sixth original album, which I will release in Summer of 2014 (July 13 is my tentative release date). Songs I love to play live like "Beauty Over Industry," "Intertwined," "Lullaby," and "In Pinks and Golds" will definitely be on this album.
I intend to take a few more months working on it, write four or five more songs for it, and really perfect everything, and make instrumental versions at the same time as I finish the vocal versions, this time.
I am so grateful to have had your support for the last few years -- eight successful kickstarter projects, wow!
This album, entitled Circling, is the follow-up to original albums The Fires I Started (2012) and Casualties (2010), and covers albums Uncovered (2011) and Lemniscate (2013). My styles and production skills and songwriting have progressed since 2010, but I see Casualties, TFIS, and this album as a trilogy and one of the things I’m planning to do with this album is a reprint of Casualties (it's been sold out for a year now) and a box set, limited to 100 copies, signed, containing the three albums.
THE BUDGET (all are estimates):
- CD pressing $2,000
- Laptop upgrade $2,000
- Mastering $500
- Live audio upgrade (wireless mic, new audio device for connect to computer, drumpants) $1,200
- Postage $2,000
- Fees $1,000
- Photography $600
- T-shirt printing $700
- Casualties reprint & ltd ed box set printing
Stretch goal: if this project reaches $21,250 I will make a professional music video (with a budget around $5k) for one of the songs.
I am not traveling quite as much for gigs this year as the last two years, so I should be slightly more available for house concerts. Please write email@example.com if you have any questions about those.

Risks and challenges
I have successfully funded, completed, and delivered eight Kickstarter projects. I have never missed a deadline for an album download to be ready.
Occasionally physical rewards are delayed (eg TFIS vinyl), have problems (eg dark metal USB, before I got them fixed), or are lost in the mail, then replaced by me as quickly as possible. And occasionally songpoem rewards take longer to deliver than anticipated -- because they require inspiration. The Beautiful Fish DVD was a few months late because the person I'd hired to edit it was not able to do so, but since this is just music that shouldn't be an issue.
I have done my best to communicate with backers when delays or problems have occurred in the past and will continue to do so, but hope it won't be necessary for this project.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
