unmemory is the story of the Killer Kittens, a band of classy cat burglars. Many are after their valuable loot but there is only one person in the world who knows where it is hidden: you. Everything would be fine if it wasn’t for a small detail: you don't remember anything.
unmemory lives at the intersection of games and literature and might appeal to noir novel fans, interactive fiction readers, graphic adventure lovers and escape room players as well as to anyone who loves challenging puzzles.

"An innovative proposal of interactive fiction that immerses you in the story through a masterful mix of puzzle and reading"
Iván Fernández Lobo, Founder & Managing Director at Gamelab.

After testing a very rough demo version of unmemory with almost 100 people with different profiles we are very satisfied with the results, but most important, we have learned some interesting insights. Check this out!

unmemory doesn’t fit in a category yet. It could be a text driven graphic adventure, a point’n’click game where text is the scenario or even an escape room you can play reading.

Along 8 separate chapters you will have to dig into “your” memories to solve the mystery of a murder. Read, play, click, discover, solve, listen,... unmemory offers an immersive experience. You will have to overcome challenging puzzles using logic, comprehension, deduction and discovery skills.

PLOT: Imagine one day you find yourself in a bathroom where there’s a girl dead in the bathtub and you don’t remember anything. You don’t know who she is nor who killed her. Maybe it was you, but you don’t remember. And what’s worse: you don’t even know who you are.

Soon you discover that a Russian gangster killed your girlfriend and that you are now part of the Killer Kittens, a band of white glove thieves.
A mysterious person wants to help you find your girlfriend’s murderer, but he needs you to remember. There is an obscure notebook full of secret clues that lead to the identity of the killer and it seems your memories are key to unveil the hidden messages and solve the puzzles. However, the recovering of those memories will serve for a hidden purpose: they are the key to…
THEMES: unmemory is a thriller story that makes you want to get to the end, full of interesting characters and with a final twist. A mystery set in Mediterranean coast in the 90s about the influence of memories on our identity. We are what we remember and what other remember about us. Without memories we lose our identity.

Leo: the protagonist.
The Killer Kittens: formerly, an artistic group framed within the current situationism, whose form of expression will be its performances or actions and whose speech revolves around the protest against the current great powers (large corporations, the press and governments) in the same line as the Yes Men , the Barbie Liberation Front or the Cacophony Society. Later, transformed into a band of white glove thieves, experts in art, jewel and bank robberies. These are the main members:
- Diane: Leo's girlfriend (member and founder of the Killer Kittens)
- Deborah Jean (Debbie): Diane’s ex girlfriend and the brain of the Killer Kittens.
- Jamie: Diane's cousin and member of the Killer Kittens.
- Kimberly (Kim): Work as double of a fashion model. She is mute.

Jay Samorost: The bad guy, the Russian gangster who wants to take revenge on the Killer Kittens because they have stolen some jewels from him.
Little Rabbit: Tattoo artist and the “fifth” Killer Kitten. She can get you anything: from a platypus to a fake passport.
Doolittle: A mysterious character. Debbie met him while her days in prison.
––The pictures shown do not depict the real characters, they are placeholders for casting purposes. The models shown are not involved in the project (yet).

The Red Notebook is the key to know the Killer Kittens’ story, its members and their relationships and the secret spot where their booty is hidden.

It has the form of a diary. It is mainly written by Debbie who started it almost at the end of college when Diane and her put together an artistic group called the Killer Kittens. It tells everything that has happened to its members, from personal experiences to how and why the group was established, their initial artistic performances and their transformation into a band of thieves. Indeed, its pages tell some juicy details of their most amazing thefts and robberies. But most importantly, the Red Notebook contains also secret clues of where they hide their loot.
You can get a copy of this diary only as a Kickstarter exclusive.

SETTING: The story is located in the Mediterranean coast in the mid-90s in an urban, cosmopolitan, residential environment. It's a mix of underground with glamour. It is not decadent. It is realistic. But above all, it is mysterious.

LOOK AND FEEL: The aesthetics of the game are sophisticated and elegant. The Editorial design is key to guarantee a good reading and gaming experience. Thus, typographies, colors and backgrounds have been carefully curated. The style obeys the late 90s trends, portraying popular devices like VHS video player, Minidisc, Walkman, Furby, Polaroid cameras and first mobile phones. Photography is still analog, Polaroid style, with blurs and light filters.
MUSIC AND SOUNDS: Sounds are an important part of the story but also the puzzles. They are key to immersion and will be carefully selected and produced. Music also plays an important role in the game since it sets the mood and the atmosphere. unmemory will have its own soundtrack. Finally, we would love to have some original tracks from our favorites bands from the 90s, but we guess that's up to you and we finally reach our stretch goals.

Risks and challenges
unmemory is a pure indie game.
If you're new to Kickstarter: you can support our game by selecting one of the rewards we prepared for you. If we reach our funding goal of €38.000, you enable us to develop the game from start to finish in every detail according to our vision.
The amount of money you want to spend will only be collected if we reach our goal and you will receive your rewards once the game is released. If we fail to reach our goal though, your account won't be charged at all.
Thanks to our families and friends we have finished the first chapter (the demo). We have already finished the writing of the remaining chapters and we are only missing the last puzzles.
With your valuable support we are convinced we will reach the fundraising target which will enable us not only to develop the game but also to launch it in autumn .
Of course, there can (and most likely will) always be surprises and challenges in the upcoming development:
- Bad examples: key team members might get ill or the office burns to the ground.
- Good examples: key team members are having a baby or win a once-in-a-lifetime trip to the moon.
No matter what, we are determined to finish the project right on time and as soon as possible!
