About this project
Featured on 60 Minutes and dubbed “the Human Google” by Good Morning America, Brad Williams is only the second person ever studied by researchers for what’s known as “highly superior autobiographical memory".
Give Brad almost any day within his lifetime and he can recall the minutiae. Where he ate breakfast. Whether it rained or snowed. What happened in the news. Even what was on TV that night.
In Unforgettable, filmmaker Eric Williams follows his brother Brad's journey through one eventful year, as international media coverage of his rare mental gifts makes him an unlikely celebrity, vaulting mild-mannered Brad from small-town anonymity to sudden midlife notoriety.
Along the way, Unforgettable captures Brad as he meets renowned memory experts, competes in a man-vs.-machine battle with the Internet, goes head-to-head in a trivia match against “Jeopardy!” mega-champ Ken Jennings, and has a thought-provoking encounter with talk-show legend Dick Cavett, who shares his own observations on the miracle of memory. The film climaxes with Brad's first-ever meeting with someone else who shares his remarkable mental ability.
The good news is that Unforgettable isn't a work-in-progress or merely something we're hoping to make someday, but a completed award-winning film that has already been shown to enthusiastic crowds at film festivals from coast to coast. We already have been offered a domestic television broadcast, and both regular folks and science educators from around the world have reached out to us, expressing their keen interest in the film. But before Unforgettable can make its way onto the world's TV screens and into its classrooms and Netflix queues, we need funding to wrap up some last loose ends.
Think of this less as a "KickStart" and more of a "KickFinish".
Most crucially, we need to make sure we've locked up the rights to include clips of Brad's appearances on shows like Jimmy Kimmel Live and Live With Regis and Kelly, as well as footage of him as a contestant on Jeopardy!...where he came in second. (Yeah, we don't understand it either.)
We also need to buy what's known as "E&O Insurance" for the film, and we have a few minor technical issues we'd like to tidy up to make sure the film looks and sounds its absolute best.
The public has shown tremendous curiosity about the subject and about Brad's story. When Brad was profiled on CNN, it was their website's most viewed story of the day, and when Brad and others with super-memory appeared on 60 Minutes, the episode was watched by more than 18.7 million viewers, the show's largest audience in two years. He has been featured on TV, radio and in print around the world, including the BBC in England and Spiegel TV in Germany, and profiled as "Superbrain" on an episode of Stan Lee's Superhumans. Brad's type of memory even loosely inspired the CBS cop show with the oddly familiar title "Unforgettable" -- but we had the name first!

Unforgettable is an entertaining and funny portrait of an unusual individual whose life takes a most unexpected detour -- and whose rare ability just might hold the secret to improving all of our memories. With your generous help, we can bring the film to the wider audience we know is waiting for it.

"Eric Williams has assembled a very intimate, informative and surprisingly-humorous portrait of his brother. There’s rarely a dull moment, and most of what makes the film so entertaining results directly from both Williams’ sharp senses of humor."

Risks and challenges
We know there is interest in the subject matter. We know that audiences enjoy the movie when they get the chance to see it. What we're seeking now is distribution, but with public TV, cable networks, DVDs and streaming services, there has probably never been a better time for a small-budgeted documentary like ours to reach its audience. Utilizing the expertise and industry contacts of our producer and executive producer, we are confident that "Unforgettable" will find its way to the public and, given the intense media curiosity about Brad and his memory which continues to this day, we feel we'll be able to get press attention to promote the eventual release.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
