Welcome to the Uneven Strings Kickstarter page! For those of you who don't know, Uneven Strings is a short romantic comedy that was written and directed by Matthew Fleming and produced by Joseph Serra, with cinematography by Justin Callahan. We are currently in the post-production stage of the film, but are in need of some support from our friends, family, and other filmmakers to complete this project. Successfully funding Uneven Strings will allow us to complete the film by this fall so that we can enter it into multiple film festivals. A lot of time and effort has gone into this project; from our amazing cast and crew to all of the extras and friends who were on set to help out where they could. We had a lot of fun filming Uneven Strings and we are very excited to get it done and get it out there!
After graduating college in 2010, we (Matt, Justin, and Joe) decided to combine our talents and work on our first short film together. Matt spent the rest of the year writing the screen play while Justin started to plan the film's look / feel and Joe tried to figure out how to put it all together. In the winter of 2011, we auditioned over 75 actors for 6 available roles. By the spring we had our cast selected and cameras scheduled to role that summer. We filmed on location throughout Massachusetts, from restaurants, bars, and coffee shops to lakes, parks, and backyards. We wrapped principal photography in late August and spent the rest of 2011 filming pickups and exterior shots. After all of the filming was complete, production officially wrapped. During the winter of 2012 we spent all our time going through every piece of footage and organizing it so we could hire an editor to put the film together. This past spring we did just that; we hired an editor to give us a rough version of Uneven Strings, but the film is not quite there yet.
In order for us to complete Uneven Strings, there is a lot that needs to be done. We still need the film to be color corrected, have audio mixed, the score written, and then have it all put together so we can get it out there! Our aim is to submit the film to festivals and to get as many people as possible to see it. With your help and support, we can build an audience to experience our hard work and passion, and try to make them have as much fun watching it as we did making it.
Thank you so much for taking the time to check out our Kickstarter page, and please check back for updates on our progress!

Risks and challenges
One of the biggest challenges that we face with Uneven Strings is getting the film to a running time that will engage our audience and grab the attention of judges without losing elements of the story that makes the film unique. Uneven Strings was originally a 28 page script and we anticipated the final to be between 28-30 minutes in length, but after receiving our first draft (37 minutes), we realized that we could tell the same story in a much shorter time. The first editor did a great job putting the "big picture" story together, but now we need editors who can take Uneven Strings to the next level and tell that same story in 18 minutes or less.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
