Worried that the legacy of his people could be destined for obscurity, King Ahem decided to host a magnificent competition in his dry and dusty kingdom of Meeplestand. Issued to neighboring regions, he called for only the most skilled architects to aid in the construction of a grand tower--one so tall that it would touch the heavens!
In Tower, players take the role of talented architects who must collect, purchase, and build their way to victory--but watch out for the unsavory thugs of the black market, who would happily help you along just as quickly as they would stab you in the back on behalf of your competitors... it all depends on who's footing the bill. The first player to build all three of his/her tower segments is the winner!

Before this campaign, a prototype of Tower was available at The Game Crafter for almost a year where it found its way into the homes of many play-testers and reviewers. Additionally, Tower has made a few public appearances at local gaming events. Here are some things that people have had to say about Tower:
Tower also received a heaping helping of constructive feedback that I have used to tighten the experience and clarify the rules. The result is a game that is intuitive, fun to play, and a joy to look at thanks to the beautiful and whimsical illustrations from artist Derek Bacon.

Huge thanks to Ron Petersen for filming and putting this together!
If you would like to add one or more of the items below to your pledge, simply increase the dollar amount of your pledge by the price listed under each add-on. After the campaign is over, but long before shipping begins, I will send out a survey to ask you what add-ons you included in your pledge.
For example, if you pledge at the $29 level, but would also like to have inventory randomizers, simply increase your pledge amount by $4 for a total of $33. If you would like to have both the inventory randomizer and the game mat, increase your pledge by $24 for a total of $53. Due to shipping costs, you must back at the Builder level or higher to get an add-on (This of course includes the Early Builder!).
$4 - Market Inventory Randomizers
This add-on includes 18 cardstock tokens with the same designs found on the inventory spaces of each market tile. At the start of a game, they can be randomly distributed over each space to make things more unpredictable.
$20 - Roll-Up Game Mat
Illustrated by Derek Bacon, this unnecessary-but-totally-righteous roll-up mat depicts a beautiful view of the city and has spaces for all of the game's components. This mat measures 11x17" and has an 1/8" rubber backing.
$25 - Extra Copy
Grab additional copies of Tower for only $25 each. A great way to save on shipping!
$3 Mob Tower Promo Pack: The Mob Tower cross promotion is over, but if you add $3 to your pledge, you can still nab the 10-card promo pack with some Tower-inspired cards in Mob the recently-funded Mob Town, and some Mob Town-inspired cards in Tower. Specifically, you will receive two black market cards representing the law, where you can team up with undercover cops in the black market to momentarily have a conscience and thwart crooks! And each card has unique art from Danny Devine!
And then, in Mob Town, you'll get an alternate set of cash cards, a camel law card, and a destination card featuring the wonderfully obscure city that Tower takes place in! For more info, check out Update #9!
(Note, if you backed both Mob Town and Tower at the base level or higher, you're all set and will receive a free promo pack for each copy of Tower that you picked up.)

Tower has hit a lot of tables over the past year. I would like to thank all of the players who took the time to provide feedback and help me tighten this game:
Sarah & Will Reed, Greg Amaral, Cody Parcell, Jenni Brush, Jason Taylor, Trent Twaddle, Duncan Wright, Jason Glover, David Taylor, JT Smith, Cyrus Kirby & Co., Sang Ko, Larry Goodale, and the Haskett clan: Stephanie, Aaron, Katie, Daniel, and Jason!
Risks and challenges
While this is the first campaign that I've run myself, this is not the first game of mine that has been on Kickstarter--in March of last year, Baldrick's Tomb (my first game) was picked up by 5th Street Games and had a successful run. We finished 500 backers strong, but did experience some delays. We were fortunate enough to hit every stretch goal we set, which resulted in a long period of art creation before finally sending off the final game to the manufacturer.
I've also been an avid Kickstarter backer, and have noticed many trends that can hold up a game in development. To avoid these delays, I've taken steps to finish as much legwork as possible ahead of time:
• Thanks to Tower's time at The Game Crafter, I've had a year to collect feedback and hone the game's rulebook into something I'm very confident is clear, concise, and appealing. Furthermore, and again thanks to The Game Crafter, I've been able to nail down all of the specs on Tower's printed components.
• Derek Bacon has been working on Tower's artwork for a long time, and I'm pleased to be able to say that it was 100% complete (barring a few possible stretch goals!) before the launch of this campaign.
• I have been in talks with Doug Vine from Quality Playing Cards & Games since May of last year. He has put together a solid quote, and we have worked together to price out differences for stretch goals. At the close of the campaign, we will be able to move on to digital proofing almost immediately. http://customizedplayingcards.com/
There is always the possibility that unforeseen circumstances can cause a game to run past its estimated ship date. Should this be the case, I will be open and up front with my backers via frequent updates. My hope is that the work done up front will be enough that I may even ship to backers before my conservative ship date of this coming September.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
