Voodoo Island - now known as "ZOMBIE ISLAND" (Canceled)
Beautiful island. Crystal blue waters. Shimmering white sand. Vacationing with your family has never been so frightening!
Another theme-packed adventure game from Francois Valentyne (Give It to the King!, Ticket To Ride: Legendary Asia, Chaos, Gone Viking) with options to play with 1 to 4 people both competitively and cooperatively!
The family vacation isn’t going according to plan. Your boat sprang a leak but luckily you made it to the beach of a remote tropical island. While you were making repairs, your family wandered off. Time to go explore the island and find them. Man, that’s thick jungle! Good thing you have a machete. You’re going to need it...
Voodoo Island is a platform, an engine and an experience. The core movement of the Zombies and Explorer(s) will remain the same but the sky is the limit on where the story begins and ends. Each expansion for the game will be referred to as scenarios, like a serial TV show each will play out with a similar theme but can be a completely unique experience. We will be looking to the gaming community to design future scenarios for the Voodoo Island gaming system and perhaps you can be a part of the future of this game!
The first two scenarios have been developed by Francois Valentyne and are included in the base funding goal. We aim to include the Zombie Master expansion to all our backers if we hit the 20K stretch goal!
Scenario One - (2 players) One Explorer vs Four Zombies - Included in Base Game
A great introduction to the platform, this 2 player version of the game will leave you sweating as the explorer attempting to find your family on the island while dodging your opponents' every move as they focus on trapping you with their mind-controlled zombies! No one ever said, vacationing was easy!
No Friends tonight?, No Problem! Scenario One also comes with an amazingly simple A.I. for the Zombies (Artificial Intelligence) which still offers the solo player an incredibly tough journey into the jungle and back to the beach
Scenario Two - (2-4 players) Three Explorer vs Four Zombies - Included in Base Game
As the game expands for a full table of players it becomes a coordinated efforts to ditch the zombies and make it back to the beach as a team. But beware if one gets caught, the whole team loses! In this Scenario you will use 2 additional beach tiles and 2 additional Explorer miniatures.
Scenario Three - The Zombie Master - 20K Stretch Goal
This is an expansion of the game played in Scenario #1. It adds the Zombie Master, 2 additional machete tiles and gives the zombie player more options. Both players are able to reveal island tiles, and the zombie start tiles have alternate placement rules.
Undead Viking Previews Voodoo Island!
It’s quite nice to lead zombies on a merry chase around the island. The puzzle created as the explorer tries to establish a course with multiple paths back home while the zombie player is trying to block and corner the tasty human is quite fun.
Episode 192 - Stephen and Josh chat about Voodoo Island and all its awesomeness!
Indeed, one of the surprisingly fun things about Voodoo Island is how quickly the game transitions from plowing through tile pieces into a mini Chess match where every move counts. The first player’s unit may have the powers of a Queen, but the zombies operate as a cross between Rooks and Bishops, making them quite potent, and revealing Voodoo Island to be a brief and lightweight tactical movement game.
This was an interesting tile-laying game. I played with a fellow gamer, and then again with my 9-year-old. It was a quick filler for the gamer, but my son liked it a fair amount. He was thinking through where he should play tiles, and once the Zombies came out, you could see him working through how to use Machete tiles to help himself and hinder me. He also saw some ways that he misplayed some tiles. It was all a great exercise for him on making good decisions.

Back-to-Back Kickstarter campaigns?!? Thats right, we are running this as the second campaign for our spring-time Kickstarter Extravaganza! We have been at it since early March and we will continue to campaign until May 15th! Our goal is to have Gone Viking & Voodoo Island, printed and shipped so that we can showcase them both at GenCon! Timelines are tight but we have ensured that we can print as soon as the campaign is over by having all our artwork and design completed before hand.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
