Have a question?
Physics classes underway ....again no ball. Am thinking now the logic of an electronics package subjected to Impulse...=FXt many times over ....simply might not be a good engineering solution for doing work to get light.... Other ways?
ok, school is back in session this will be 3rd year with no ball, my students are still disappointed
Okay, haven't heard anything since the replacement announcement, that still a thing? Hello? Anybody out there?
This is like a scam, only slower. I wish I had never pledged, as I have seen nothing from this group, since the last unfulfilled promise.
Have not received the first ball or the 2.0
You guys emailed me 6 months ago talking about sending 2.0. Since then no updates, no replies, no ball!!! This is such a scam!!! Even though pledging was for a good cause, the pledging also includes an end product which we paid for. Please give us and update on what's going on and when will us pledgers get our ball.
I have never received an original or replacement
I finally received the Soccket v2! Great to see and nice packaging. Wishing this team success - sorry it took so long.
I emailed about the "free" "extra" "new and improved" soccket ball about two months ago. I asked if I could receive the original as well. They told me there were shipping issues. I said, that I didn't care what issues there were, that I understood things happen, and to please just send me the original tracking number of the package that was "mailed" to my house.
I have not received another response since. Part of me feels like it was because they were lying. The other part hopes it was because they are busy working on a new soccket.
Either way, I need a response soon, before taking legal action, as over $90,000 was taken in for this project and I haven't received a single thing. It's been over a year since the promise deadline.
I am still also waiting to hear about and receive my 2.0 replacement ball. Any news on this at all?
lol to everyone who didn't receive a ball, you might as well just go buy a piece of Styrofoam, the ball is terrible quality
I but never received my ball.
Forgot about it but would like it please.
100, where is my replacement? i've got a broken ball that looks like it almost survived the Apocalypse after just one use
"We certainly haven't given up on this project OR our awesome backers!"
Ah, yes you have........
Radio silence. This Kickstarter project is off the rails. No communication for months, still no responses to inquiries.
Pledged March 2013 - still no ball.
We certainly haven't given up on this project OR our awesome backers! If you haven't had a chance to check out the Uncharted Play YouTube channel you're missing out! See it here and tweet or Facebook your thoughts to us! We always loving hearing from our backers! http://bit.ly/1nwkMPT
Curious. Not comments since May 29th?
Have we all given up on this project?
Congrats on the mention on USA Today! http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/2014/05/27/change-agents-jessica-matthews-soccket-ball/9013529/
Also still waiting for my return label or replacement ball. I received the ball dipped in green paint which cracked and chipped to such an extent my son wrapped the ball in Scotch tape. I'm also still waiting on my phone call from Ms. Jessica...I submitted my contact info and was promised a personal call to discuss possible resoloutions. All in all, I think this is a great product but the UnCharted Play may need to bring in a third party to make this right. I have every confidence in their commitment and look forward to a new ball before summer, just like last year. rg
still waiting on response to my email about how to return ball. i would like to take care of this before school is over for the year so i can give my students some updates on the project
April 29 - still no ball no communication for weeks at a time. Nature abhors a vacuum of information.
I received my ball in the first week in January. Unfortunately, it was dis-colored like many of the ones received by other folks. I emailed Uncharted Play and they sent me a return address label and promised to send me a new one.
So far nothing. And no responses to my subsequent emails.
Maybe we should try their Facebook page:
There are more posts there than updates here!
I'm with Thomas. I can't believe after a few kicks it looked like it had been used for 15 years.
meant to say '...lost credibility with my kids'......
Share the disappointment of previous reviewers. After a first try my kids don't want to have anything to do with the ball anymore, simply because it doesn't behave like a soccer ball. And yes, after 10 minutes play my green ball looks like it has 15 years of usage. Orange plug fell off right away. So sad, plus I used credibility with my kids since I hyped the whole thing up before receiving my ball.....
Received my Soccket in Canada on Friday, so I thought I would provide some feedback for Uncharted Play.
- I paid for the special colour, but didn't receive it. Not getting the extra tier reward that cost extra is very disappointing.
- The ball itself is somewhat misshapen and the cover material is inconsistently applied. Lots of seams are a bit gappy and glue overflows in some parts.
- As noted by others, it is difficult to get the light to plug-in. When that is finally achieved, the connection is pretty loose, making it an inconsistent source of light at best. The plug-in issue seems like it could be fixed with a fixed or sleeved portion on the light accessory that is the length of the portion that is plugged in into the ball.
- Communication freeze. You promised twice weekly updates, and then didn't do any more of them at all.
Overall, I think the product is promising, but that there are major design issues that need fixing make it effective. Additionally, your manufacturing and customer communication process needs a lot of improvement. There's a big gulf between the promise of the Soccket and the product that what was delivered.
My hope is that you can learn from this as a company, and get a better result on the product side.
This was a rough way to get introduced to kickstarter. The ball I received doesn't really work as a ball or a light. I can appreciate the idea behind this, but it looks like you spent a lot more time and money on your funding video than on your product. The idea was exciting, the execution was poor. Better luck next time, though I wont be contributing to any future ventures.
Just received my Soccket in Canada. Not the green one I ordered though, but that may be a good thing if people are saying it is just spray painted green... could have done that myself and saved $20. It is a foam ball as previously mentioned, and mine in particular is misshaped, which is not really useful for soccer. The Lamp is basically an LED with a stereo headphone jack on the other side as the plug in (I had suggested they place a USB plug instead, now I know why they didn't it hardly generates power) ... not very bright nor great quality. This was not a good Kickstarter experience in my opinion ... now the Lumio... those people know how to run a Kickstarter. Maybe Kickstarter should consider a mentoring program or something, because the Soccket was not worth the hype, I probably could have made this with an old electromagnetic induction flashlight, this is hardly revolutionary.
let me be more pointed, should we keep using the ball with the rattling inside or send it back, if we send it back what would the be turn around time and will we get a more quality product in return?
I've also not received my SOCCKET - I've communicated, rather tried, to communicate for the past two months. I get responses but no action. Color me frustrated.
I have never received my SOCCKET. HOW DO I GET IT. Others have theirs.
Oh boy, I just got an email saying that I've been sent a package! First Class International to Canada; I'll post again when it arrives.
I also have not heard or seen anything at all. Hopefully it is a sign that they are fixing a number of issues before sending a new lot but I don't think I'll get my hopes up at all.
Haven't received my ball and have repeatedly asked for a refund, no longer getting any response. I think this whole thing was a big scam!
we had a chance to play with the ball for the first time today for about 10 minutes. it now looks like it has been used for 10 years, the yellow plug fell off a few minutes into play and what ever is inside is now loose and rattling around? i am very disappointed with this project
Have not received my soccket yet.......
I was just checking in - since they were delayed, I haven't really been receiving regular updates -- well, at least, specific updates on timing. But I still do not have my Soccket.
Is the product going to improved at all on what people have already received?
Just received my Soccket today. I have to say when I saw the box I was not excited because of the reviews online. When I opened it was almost exactly perfect. I really believe that Soccket has taken the criticism and improved upon it. I received my green ball just the one I ordered. The lamp is fully functional and stays in. The rubber piece on top is bendable and did not break upon me twisting it and me playing with it. The ball is foam like, but that was expected since its biodegradable. My point about that is no one should complain about the material. It feels just like a real soccer ball when kicking it. My one complaint is that it is spray painted, but even that is not that bad. The ball is completely dry (no paint in the box), and the smell is not strong, it does not even leave an odor on your hands. There is one tiny, barely noticeable dot of white, which I am fine with. I can see how the paint might ware off over time, but it is a soccer ball and regular ones ink wares off too. It should be fine to play with on wood floors, grass, or turf. Do not play with on gravel or scratchy surfaces, not because of the "cheap" paint but because of the ball is FOAM LIKE. Use common sense foam can be worn down, in fact you should not even be using a regular soccer ball on blacktop or whatever.
*Every time I emailed Uncharted Play I got a response fairly fast.
My only true complaints is the amount of time it took and the fact that people who ordered a white ball and did not pay the extra cash and still got a colored one some even green (So I heard).
All in all I am very happy with my soccket. I was worried with all the other comments I have seen, but I am happy with the product. It is completely functional and awesome. Although I had to wait some extra time than others, I really think Uncharted Play took that in and were able to figure out the mistakes.
Thank you so much for this almost flawless, amazing product, I only wish that I could have gotten it sooner.
Still waiting on mine to arrive in California. Please update me.
I am so disappointment with this experience. The lack of accountability and respect for the sponsors from the soccket team has been to such degree that we have opted to use this case as an example of how not to conduct business to our global Young Professionals teams.
Unless you send a decent product pronto _ please don't waste my time with another teenager message indicating how much you appreciate our business. As it says below:be respectful and considerate. First rule of repeat business.
Still waiting from BC, but it sounds like I'm about to receive a piece of garbage
OK, the lamp is there. The plug seems rather deep, and the lamp works if I keep holding it in. As soon as I let go the lamp does not work.
I just received my Soccket yesterday (1/15/2014). It was supposed to be white, but came as a bright green that is scuffed up in several places. I was so disappointed I haven't looked at it to see if the plug was good or not, or if the lamp was there or not.
Another disappointed - foam ball with chipped red paint and obstructed light insert - owner! Great idea that will loose your backers and the future of soccket in the execution! Please don't ship any more - fix the problems and try again!!!
Still nothing to Canada. While we wait, I'm curious if the ball actually *works*? Beyond the "factory reject paint", broken orange caps, and lights that you can't plug in... does it generate and store energy when you kick it around?
To lighten the mood a bit; My favorite update was Oct 18: "We're going to switch to two updates per week to keep you informed as we make progress." That was 5 updates ago. :)
I just got my Soccket in the mail yesterday and, needless to say, have been as disappointed with the ball that I received as so many others.
The plug is far too deep in the ball to find easily (a design change that I could understand if the channel were constructed to ease insertion of the lamp). The paint has been applied with a brush from the appearance of the brushstrokes and it doesn't even look as if the paint was allowed to dry before it was placed in the box. The paint is flaking on all of the surfaces that were allowed to touch the bare cardboard (couldn't put bubblewrap around the ball?).
Of particular interest to my Soccket is the atrocious green with which it was painted. I was one of the backers who requested one of the "limited edition green" Socckets. I'd originally assumed upon seeing the ball that you had simply made a change in the color different than the one which was originally shown in the development photos. This was a poor color choice in my opinion but I could have lived with that until I saw the comments from the other backers. Every single person who has commented thus far has received a colored Soccket. Those of us that had backed the offer for the plain white ball received red, blue, brown, and the dinosaur GREEN Socckets like mine. I gave an additional $20 for a "limited edition green" Soccket and got the same one that everyone else did who didn't fork over the extra cash.
I would think that the people running a Kickstarter campaign that had received so much national media attention would have tried harder to ensure that the product that they delivered was exactly as promised. The Socckets should have been delivered in August and I have waited patiently the entire time with the expectation that the wait was going to be worth it. How can you say that you have any pride in your work when you allow something as shoddily constructed as this Soccket to be delivered with your company logo on it? You should have made absolutely sure that the Socckets were going to be perfect considering the money that was given for this project and the extra time that you supposedly needed to deliver a satisfactory item. I'm beyond flabbergasted at this whole debacle. Where are we supposed to go from here?
Have yet to receive my ball. I am a bit worried to at this point considering the rant that I will have to write afterwards.
