I received my ball in the first week in January. Unfortunately, it was dis-colored like many of the ones received by other folks. I emailed Uncharted Play and they sent me a return address label and promised to send me a new one.
So far nothing. And no responses to my subsequent emails.
Maybe we should try their Facebook page:

Share the disappointment of previous reviewers. After a first try my kids don't want to have anything to do with the ball anymore, simply because it doesn't behave like a soccer ball. And yes, after 10 minutes play my green ball looks like it has 15 years of usage. Orange plug fell off right away. So sad, plus I used credibility with my kids since I hyped the whole thing up before receiving my ball.....

Received my Soccket in Canada on Friday, so I thought I would provide some feedback for Uncharted Play.

      - I paid for the special colour, but didn't receive it. Not getting the extra tier reward that cost extra is very disappointing.

      - The ball itself is somewhat misshapen and the cover material is inconsistently applied. Lots of seams are a bit gappy and glue overflows in some parts.

      - As noted by others, it is difficult to get the light to plug-in. When that is finally achieved, the connection is pretty loose, making it an inconsistent source of light at best. The plug-in issue seems like it could be fixed with a fixed or sleeved portion on the light accessory that is the length of the portion that is plugged in into the ball.

      - Communication freeze. You promised twice weekly updates, and then didn't do any more of them at all.

Overall, I think the product is promising, but that there are major design issues that need fixing make it effective. Additionally, your manufacturing and customer communication process needs a lot of improvement. There's a big gulf between the promise of the Soccket and the product that what was delivered.

My hope is that you can learn from this as a company, and get a better result on the product side.

This was a rough way to get introduced to kickstarter. The ball I received doesn't really work as a ball or a light. I can appreciate the idea behind this, but it looks like you spent a lot more time and money on your funding video than on your product. The idea was exciting, the execution was poor. Better luck next time, though I wont be contributing to any future ventures.

Just received my Soccket in Canada. Not the green one I ordered though, but that may be a good thing if people are saying it is just spray painted green... could have done that myself and saved $20. It is a foam ball as previously mentioned, and mine in particular is misshaped, which is not really useful for soccer. The Lamp is basically an LED with a stereo headphone jack on the other side as the plug in (I had suggested they place a USB plug instead, now I know why they didn't it hardly generates power) ... not very bright nor great quality. This was not a good Kickstarter experience in my opinion ... now the Lumio... those people know how to run a Kickstarter. Maybe Kickstarter should consider a mentoring program or something, because the Soccket was not worth the hype, I probably could have made this with an old electromagnetic induction flashlight, this is hardly revolutionary.

Just received my Soccket today. I have to say when I saw the box I was not excited because of the reviews online. When I opened it was almost exactly perfect. I really believe that Soccket has taken the criticism and improved upon it. I received my green ball just the one I ordered. The lamp is fully functional and stays in. The rubber piece on top is bendable and did not break upon me twisting it and me playing with it. The ball is foam like, but that was expected since its biodegradable. My point about that is no one should complain about the material. It feels just like a real soccer ball when kicking it. My one complaint is that it is spray painted, but even that is not that bad. The ball is completely dry (no paint in the box), and the smell is not strong, it does not even leave an odor on your hands. There is one tiny, barely noticeable dot of white, which I am fine with. I can see how the paint might ware off over time, but it is a soccer ball and regular ones ink wares off too. It should be fine to play with on wood floors, grass, or turf. Do not play with on gravel or scratchy surfaces, not because of the "cheap" paint but because of the ball is FOAM LIKE. Use common sense foam can be worn down, in fact you should not even be using a regular soccer ball on blacktop or whatever.

*Every time I emailed Uncharted Play I got a response fairly fast.

My only true complaints is the amount of time it took and the fact that people who ordered a white ball and did not pay the extra cash and still got a colored one some even green (So I heard).

All in all I am very happy with my soccket. I was worried with all the other comments I have seen, but I am happy with the product. It is completely functional and awesome. Although I had to wait some extra time than others, I really think Uncharted Play took that in and were able to figure out the mistakes.

Thank you so much for this almost flawless, amazing product, I only wish that I could have gotten it sooner.

I am so disappointment with this experience. The lack of accountability and respect for the sponsors from the soccket team has been to such degree that we have opted to use this case as an example of how not to conduct business to our global Young Professionals teams.

I just received my Soccket yesterday (1/15/2014). It was supposed to be white, but came as a bright green that is scuffed up in several places. I was so disappointed I haven't looked at it to see if the plug was good or not, or if the lamp was there or not.

Still nothing to Canada. While we wait, I'm curious if the ball actually *works*? Beyond the "factory reject paint", broken orange caps, and lights that you can't plug in... does it generate and store energy when you kick it around?

To lighten the mood a bit; My favorite update was Oct 18: "We're going to switch to two updates per week to keep you informed as we make progress." That was 5 updates ago. :)

I just got my Soccket in the mail yesterday and, needless to say, have been as disappointed with the ball that I received as so many others.

The plug is far too deep in the ball to find easily (a design change that I could understand if the channel were constructed to ease insertion of the lamp). The paint has been applied with a brush from the appearance of the brushstrokes and it doesn't even look as if the paint was allowed to dry before it was placed in the box. The paint is flaking on all of the surfaces that were allowed to touch the bare cardboard (couldn't put bubblewrap around the ball?).

Of particular interest to my Soccket is the atrocious green with which it was painted. I was one of the backers who requested one of the "limited edition green" Socckets. I'd originally assumed upon seeing the ball that you had simply made a change in the color different than the one which was originally shown in the development photos. This was a poor color choice in my opinion but I could have lived with that until I saw the comments from the other backers. Every single person who has commented thus far has received a colored Soccket. Those of us that had backed the offer for the plain white ball received red, blue, brown, and the dinosaur GREEN Socckets like mine. I gave an additional $20 for a "limited edition green" Soccket and got the same one that everyone else did who didn't fork over the extra cash.

I would think that the people running a Kickstarter campaign that had received so much national media attention would have tried harder to ensure that the product that they delivered was exactly as promised. The Socckets should have been delivered in August and I have waited patiently the entire time with the expectation that the wait was going to be worth it. How can you say that you have any pride in your work when you allow something as shoddily constructed as this Soccket to be delivered with your company logo on it? You should have made absolutely sure that the Socckets were going to be perfect considering the money that was given for this project and the extra time that you supposedly needed to deliver a satisfactory item. I'm beyond flabbergasted at this whole debacle. Where are we supposed to go from here?

Received our ball today... Unfortunately, like many, I am very disappointed with the product delivered. I was going to donate a couple dozen of these for a upcoming mission trip to Africa for my church but if this is what's being produced there's no way I'm wasting my money on it.

Like many, I received a ball that was painted (Red) with what appears to be factory reject paint. I'm not sure why they painted these nor why they choose the horrible colors they did. Especially when there's no mention that they were going to substitute these for the white balls pictured.

Additionally, beyond the cosmetics there's functional failures/quality issues with the device as well. On my device you weren't able to insert the light correctly because there was a large blockage of foam over the plug receptacle. Once I used a tool to scrape this out of the way I found that the plug was so far down inside the ball that it was a huge challenge to insert the 1/8 plug into the socket. I had 7 different people try this and all had issues. The photos show the socket just under the orange cap which makes more sense then having it at the core of the ball.

Even once we finally managed, 20+ attempts, to get it inserted if you even bump it the light cuts out. Speaking of orange cap, like others this thing is just cheap not staying put very well. I can only imagine that this will fall off quickly. As a result I imagine that dirt/debris will accumulate under where the cap was covering and will render the ball unusable.

In short, HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT, POOR EXECUTION, and I believe the ball I have is essentially junk. I hope that they manage to get their act together on this and make everyone whole that's invested in their company. Unfortunately the last communication from you on this forum was in May so I'm not holding my breath.

I received a green ball today--that's good, as green is what I pledged for. But when I took it out of the box, the green was already starting to flake off in multiple places. And the first time I lifted the orange charging cap, it broke off the ball entirely. I think the idea behind this project is wonderful, but must admit, I'm a little bit disappointed in the execution.

Soccket arrived and its green, painted with a brush, it is also emitting a toxic order causing us to remove from the house. I've followed Uncharted Play from the beginning believing in their dream and financially supporting them. The product I received is not good, at best it could be considered a prototype for testing. Maybe that is Uncharted Play's plan for us to test and send back.

Received my defective soccket ball yesterday. Very disappointed. Packing list said "white soccket" when I opened the box the ball was green. Looks more like a spray painted foam ball. One of the panels are dented in and the paint was missing in some spots showing white underneath. This ball looks nothing like the soccket ball promised. In fact, I haven't seen any green soccket balls on-line anywhere. The ball I received would get ruined the first time you take it outside. I immediately emailed the contact us email and Im really hoping that after waiting almost a year, they will fix this ball I would like to give to my daughter.

Jessica...I think the age old sucessful business axiom is "Under promise and over deliver." Not, "Over promise and never deliver." For my son's birthday he got a note from you saying ball would be here in August---oops missed that one. Then in early December one saying that it will be here for Christmas, guaranteed...opps another fail. So on the tree he finds the note saying that the ball will be delivered eventually...fortunately he just laughed, but I'm sure others cried. At least he is old enough (10) to direct his ire at you and not the messenger (me). For the record, your HONEST updates are anything but. All said, a progress report would be nice...ie how many have shipped, etc. Thanks.

We are pretty upset because it was the one thing our son wanted for Christmas and now we do not know what we will do to avoid his disappointment. It so sounded like it was definitely going to be delivered by Christmas that we did not steer him in another direction. A piece of paper saying it will come some day come doesn't work for a little boy. Is there anything we can do to have one over-nighted to us?

      Update on Holiday Shipping
      December 17 2013
      Hi Harald,

Thank you so much for supporting us throughout our holiday season launch -- we are so excited to get you your SOCCKETs! We are here for you and consider you an invaluable part of our mission. As members of our family, we wanted to share an honest update about our SOCCKET shipment status.

In autumn, we placed an order to all of our vendors to supply us with materials to make your SOCCKETs for the holiday season. We paid in full for the materials and waited patiently in our newly set up assembly center in Newburgh, NY. Unfortunately, two of our 9+ vendors experienced trouble getting us critical parts of the ball by the expected date -- some as late as 3 weeks after our promised date. In addition, we have endured two snowstorms in the past four days, during a time when many deliveries were expected and delayed.

The good news is that with the current snow tapering off, we will begin shipping SOCCKETs today. Our entire New York team has relocated to our manufacturing center in Newburgh, NY. We have been working for several days, without sleep, sparing no amount of time, energy or money to ensure that all of you will receive your orders in time for the holidays. All of us are personally building, packing and shipping your product. We are upgrading everyone to the fastest delivery possible, and will even hand deliver product if necessary! We are doing all that we can for you, our valued teammate.

We hope that you will continue to be patient with us. Your support and enthusiasm over the past few months has been so valuable. You are the reason we exist.

We will update you as soon as we can with further details. Please feel free to email us at anytime with questions and concerns. If we do not respond right away, please know it is only because we are on the floor of our factory, spending every minute of the day making your orders happen!

Thank you so much, and Happy Holidays!
