10 modern girls and one dead white guy: Help us print Girls Drawing Comics: A Midsummer Night’s Dream in full color!

May 4th, at 6pm: We're 129% funded!

Thank you. Thank you so much for supporting our project.  The amount that I placed the kickstarter at covered the minimum quotes I got for the book and for a small number of t-shirts and posters.

With the overage I will upgrade the quality of the paper stock and printing- both for the cover and for the interior pages.  Your kind funding will go toward making this book the most beautiful little book that it can be with the highest production values possible.  It will also pay for catering a signing party for the girls and their families.

Because of your generosity this book will not only exist but it will be what it should be- a well crafted showcase for the future of comics.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Hi, my name is Ursula Murray Husted.  I live in Minneapolis and draw comics.

Recently I ran a comics workshop for teenage girls hosted by the Altered Esthetics Gallery in Northeast Minneapolis.  It was amazing. This group of 10 girls, aged 13-16,  was so excited about making comics that they gave up their spring breaks to attend the three-day workshop. That's dedication.  Each girl designed their own characters and used their own style to adapt a piece of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The work they did was amazing and I’m so proud of them.

I organized the workshop to support the new generation of women cartoonists and here’s your chance to do the same.  This kickstarter is to raise money to collect their comics in a full color bound volume. We would really appreciate your help to make their vision a reality.

The books will be full color inside and out, 8.5x11 and printed right here in Minneapolis. There will only be one run of these books and supporting this project is the only way to get a copy or two.  We’ll also be making posters, tshirts, and having a signing to promote the girls and their work.

There’s nothing better than seeing your work in a published book and I’m so proud and happy to be able to bring this experience, with your help, to these girls. When they start getting their eisners and xerics, you can have the bragging rights of supporting them in their first project.

Thank you for your time and thank you for supporting Girls Making Comics.
