About this project
To our dear backers and supporters,
We are writing this to you to let you know that we have made the decision that Kickstarter is not the right platform for a product like UberBlox and therefore we are cancelling this Kickstarter campaign.
Our initial thought was that since crowdfunding seems to be the new wave, that it would be a good choice to launch this product. We now know better.
The mistake that we made was to allow the many restrictions imposed by a platform like Kickstarter, that work well for most single-item products, affect the very core of the message of a much more complex product like UberBlox.
Within hours of launching we mistakenly started to change our message to try to cater to the general Kickstarter audience, continuously changing our message and in the process, understandably, alienating our core audience that we had worked hard to gain by showing them what UberBlox is capable of well before our launch. We reacted impulsively in a very short time to appease every opinion, all well-intended but most misinformed, constantly changing our message to appeal to a mass audience.
This product is not for everybody. It is for makers. We are makers. We made it for people like us.
We understand the deep technical aspects of it, we initially presented it that way and should have simply stuck to that and assumed that the audience we care about gets it and wants it that way.
We should not have let the pressures of a platform such as Kickstarter make us change our core belief and offering. UberBlox is simply too good a product to have this happen to it.
We strongly believe that this product can make a difference and therefore needs to be offered in a much better way and atmosphere, and in a much more controlled way so that our customers get what they want, and our vision for it that's been in development for almost a decade is realized.
We have partnered up with a company called Celery based in California that will allow us to quickly turn our website, uberblox.com into a pre-order site, much the same way that Kickstarter works, but without the restrictions and stress that caused UberBlox not to be offered properly to you and made us get off message. You can read about the way Celery works at trycelery.com.
You will be able to choose what you need from a catalog of parts and pre-order them. You can order individual parts, components, and kits and see the price of each one clearly. Your credit card will not be charged until we actually ship the item to you when it's ready.
With enough pre-orders we will be able to kick into high gear and start the mass production process. We will clearly show you on our site the number and amount of pre-orders and our goal to get the ball rolling, which will be similar to what we had here. Our timeline for manufacturing will stay the same, with shipments starting to go out in Nov of 2015.
For those of you that believe in us and in this product and backed us here, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude for your loyalty and offer you savings from our future site. We will honor a 15% discount plus free shipping anywhere in the world to anyone that backed us here. Please send us an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with your Kickstarter name and pledge amount so that we can verify it and send you a coupon code to use on our site.
We will send regular updates about the progress and launch of our new site, which will happen shortly, on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/uberblox
Thank you so much for believing in this product and in our effort to bring it to you. For spending the time to learn about it and offer your support here. We hope we can do a better job in giving you what you expect from a product like UberBlox.
