This is a story of Dragons & Thieves, and who will be the richest of them all.
Selfish dragons have decided to betray each other and steal each other's gold to become the richest and most powerful dragon around. To do so, each dragon has hired a thief to do their dirty work. Being the notorious thieves that they are, they take on the job to prove their skills and become the richest thief of them all, for bragging rights of course.
Dragons & Thieves is a self-published board game designed to bring you the classic family board experience. With the recent revival of board games from millennials, the objective of this project is to bring back the classic board game experience.
Dragons & Thieves is designed for 2-4 players and is the ultimate easy-to-learn family game. Included in the experience are different interactions that will keep you wanting more. This game brings it all together, whether it'd be from making friends to stealing from them, from stealing gold to losing gold, or from getting stronger or getting weaker. This game aims to bring back the blast from the past.

- Players: 2-4
- Ages: 10+
- Average Time: 30-60 minutes Per Game
The game plays by players moving around the board, entering each dragon's hoard as they pass (except their own or any unoccupied hoard) to steal gold. Along the way players will encounter events, actions, and other fun-filled spaces around the board.
The objective of the game is to be the player with the most gold in your hoard before two years are up. The game progresses one month at a time, and each month is completed when all players have taken their turn.
Every player starts with 1 dragon and 1 thief, as well as a starting amount of gold in their hoard and 2 action cards. Each dragon and thief have their own unique strengths, weaknesses, and abilities (thieves only).
Turn sequence and board direction are both clockwise. Each turn, players can choose to roll either 1 or 2 dice to move their thief. During a player's turn, there can be many different interactions depending on the space they land on.
When moving around the board, players are required to enter every dragon hoard except their own and any hoard not in play. The goal in a hoard is to reach the combat space to initiate combat.
Combat determines whether or not a player is successful in stealing gold from an opponent. The outcome is determined by a dice roll, which is also affected by a player's dragon or thief stats. Players can upgrade their stats at shops for a greater chance at being successful in combat.
Players can also choose to use any action cards in their hand at any time during their turn for various outcomes.
At the end of two years, the player with the most gold wins the game.

This expansion will add a new element to the game by adding buyable items at the shop. This added mechanic will appeal to players that enjoy a more RPG and strategy element to their game.
The items will have different effects to add a new style of game play, and will surely be a welcome addition to the game.

- As we browsed through the current and past Kickstarter projects, we noticed a growing audience for tabletop games. We believed this growing awareness for board games was the perfect place to begin our own game project. This was a major incentive for us to choose Kickstarter as our crowdfunding platform.

We are a ragtag group of junior game designers that currently are working on a new take to the classic family board game genre. As we worked on this game, we experimented with new ideas and often looked back to older games to see what they did. We have made many strides for this project, and hope that everyone that takes a look at it sees more than just a first attempt on making a board game.

Risks and challenges
With any project, there are many challenges that arise. As junior designers, creating a board game in a small time frame already poses many challenges. However, through teamwork and proper management, we are able to overcome these obstacles and design a product that we are extremely proud of. A tough issue to handle was the difficulty of aligning each other's visions and ideas in the beginning, but these same weaknesses were turned into strengths later on. With various ideas, we were able to design a board game that demonstrates major fun factors. Understanding these challenges, we progressed by constantly reminding ourselves and each other who our target audience was. Through constant beta testing with professionals and groups of gamers, it allowed us to tackle these challenges as it came up and improve the game to what it is now.
As it is our first Kickstarter project, we will run into challenges facing manufacturing and meeting product demand. However, we have measures to overcome these, whether it'd be from personal backgrounds (previous education experience), educational guidance, or dedication. We are prepared to answer questions truthfully to the full extent of our knowledge and will do the best to ensure the product meets expectations.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
