About

Introduction:

PlayerCard is a place where users can find the perfect teammate or future friend to play games and have fun with. Think of a place where you can distinctly search for the right teammate to play with. Now think about a place where you can find the right clan just for you. Never again you will play alone because PlayerCard will have the right teammates/clans you are looking for.

Mission Statement:

PlayerCard seeks to bring gamers together with the help of clans. All players will be able to represent their clan and participate in clan battles for complete domination on the leaderboards. You will never have trouble again finding the right person or people to play with.

The mission statement in a list form present as follows:

· To connect all types of players around the world.

· To give users a platform for their voice to be herd and a blog to express themselves.

· To enhance the competition in gaming.

· Create a place where users can have their own clan and manage who gets in or out.

· Break the barrier between a teammate and a friend.

· Stay updated on your favourite clans’ clan battles.

· To tell the world who you are as a gamer from start to present.

Minor Backstory About PlayerCard/About Me:

My name is Tyree McPherson and I am the Creator and Founder of PlayerCard. I am also the one and only developer. I just recently graduated college in June of 2019 and got my degree in Computer Programming.

Back in December of 2018, I had an idea to bring my Battlefield 1 clan together by making a website dedicated for the clan. By then, it was just a small little project I was going to do on the side while in college. The idea was still very vague, and I did not end up making the website due to some circumstances.

On February 24, 2019, the idea sparked again because one of the clan members brought up making a clan website and I was all for it because I wanted to bring the clan together across all games, since some of us started branching from Battlefield 1. I still had some of my thoughts on the website from December, so I was all for it.

At the time it was four of us in total (there were about 30+ in the clan) talking about the website and how we can do this, that, and so on. We had about 2 conversations about it and never talked about it again.

It was around late March of 2019 where I realized that no one in the group of four, besides me wanted to bring this to light because I kept trying to get them to learn coding/programming, but no one responded. At this point, I made a big decision to do this entire project on my own from front-end, back-end, database, UI/UX, marketing, business, and a whole lot more all on my own.

I knew that this was not going to be easy, but I knew it had to be done.

My current vision went from having a clan website for my clan to having a large-scale website centered around gaming. I wanted to go further and be more ambitious. This may not seem ambitious right now, but with what I have planned in the long run, you will see what I mean. I wanted to create a website (and soon mobile + desktop app) where it was the central hub for all things gaming. I wanted to bring gamers from all over the world to communicate, socialize, and compete. I wanted to create a platform where every gamer had a voice and can earn their reputation through dedication and putting in the time. I also wanted to make sure everyone of all ages, regions, and games will have a place in PlayerCard.

Your PlayerCard is your everything. It tells the world who you are as a gamer and it is the gateway to finding the perfect clan for you. Create or join a clan with your friends and start dominating the competition with whatever game(s) you feel like. If a PlayerCard is not enough to tell the world who you are, you also have your very own PlayerCard Page that acts like a blog page. On your PlayerCard Page, you will be able to tell people your journey on who you are as a gamer from the past to present and a whole lot more in the near future.

Follow your favourite content creators or players and get the latest updates on their activity right on your dashboard as soon as you login. You can favourite your favourite clans to get updates on who, what, when and where they are clan battling (where meaning what platform they will be live streaming if they choose to live stream the clan battle).

Prototypes:

DISCLAIMER: All the screenshots shown are all temporary and not final. Possibly every object/item are subject to change.

As you will see in the screenshots, the website is still in the early stages of development. By seeing the screenshots, it is important that you try to get the idea of what I am trying to create.

Clan Battles
Clan Battles

This screenshot demonstrates how a clan battle listing will look like. Users will be able to select live or upcoming battles. On top of that, there are filters on the right where you can filter by time (for upcoming battles on hour intervals), game, region, and platform. The actual item object shown is an example of how it would look. On the left, there will be an upvote counter with an arrow where users (registered and logged in) can upvote the clan battle to give it more attention. At the top middle, it will show the main details of the clan battle. In the main middle section, it will show the clan cards from the two clans. Below that will be a drop down with all the rules, so people know the rules and decide if they are interested. On the far right there is a “WATCH LIVE” button that you can click and depending on if one or both clans are streaming the clan battle, you will be able to tune in and watch it live.

Leaderboards
Leaderboards

This screenshot demonstrates a concept on how the leaderboards will look and you get a glimpse of what the ClanCard will look like. I do not really like the design, so I am probably going to change it. You will have a card header and logo for both ClanCards and PlayerCards. Below that will be the clan name and player name/clan leader. Depending on the card, there will be a name hierarchy. On the right of the names, there will be tags to show the type of clan this is. In this example placeholder, this clan is a professional clan. At the bottom of the card, the clans XP, Wins, and Favourites counter will display. At the very top of the main column, you will see your clan’s rank, depending on the filter that is set and if XP or Wins is selected. There will be columns as usual with a heading. On the right side, there are filters again for the time, number of players (in the battle and not the clan), game, region, and platform (at the very bottom off screen).

PlayerCard Search Filters
PlayerCard Search Filters

This screenshot demonstrates the power and flexibility you will have on finding the right person to play with and maybe invite to your clan. For the game filter, it comes from your PlayerCard because while creating or updating your PlayerCard, there is a section for Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary game. If the selected game matches one of the three games listed in the PlayerCard (only the primary game is mandatory), the user will show up. You can filter by all time zones in the world to further narrow down players within your region. The language filter is as expected. You can add multiple languages to your PlayerCard, but the primary one is mandatory. Skipping region and platform, daily play time is a filter to select on average how many hours a day that user plays. Weekly play time is the same thing but spans out for a full week of 7 days. Type of player is Casual, Enthusiast, Hardcore, Competitive, and professional. Type of in-game player is like a communicator, slayer, objective player, etc. Age group is children, teen, and adult. Finally, the ping filter is to find people with high, medium or low ping relative to their region. With all these options, you can find the exact player you are looking for.

What The Money Will Do/Be For:

Reaching the fundraising goal would allow me to work on PlayerCard full-time and even well over overtime because on the weekends when I have time, I easily put in 10-14 hours into it already. Being able to solely focus on PlayerCard will be an ideal situation. Also as mentioned before about me going to college and graduating, that came at an expense with a student loan that I must pay off. The money will be able to support me for the coming months while I work on this project and help pay for the hosting of the website. Also, I will have more time to produce a higher quality website.

Stretch Goal: $14,000

If the money raised goes over the goal, it will be for things like better equipment (such as a PC setup as I currently use a low-mid level laptop) to further improve efficiency and performance, marketing/advertising for when PlayerCard releases, and other things related to further bettering the creation of PlayerCard.

Future Plans:

After the launch of PlayerCard, there will be many more things and features to look forward too. It is going to start out as mentioned above with creating a PlayerCard, creating a clan, clan battling, blogging on your PlayerCard Page, and many more, but PlayerCard will evolve into something much bigger. For a slight glimpse into the future, I will say tournaments along with tournament leaderboards, communities, social communications/connections such as adding friends and having chat rooms, and many more will be coming in the near future after the launch of PlayerCard.

Closing Statement:

If you made it this far, I thank you very, very much for taking the time to read all of this and having even the slightest interest in PlayerCard. I truly believe in this idea of bringing everyone together to one platform, one location. Everyone will have a voice and equality. No more having trouble to find the right player or clan for you. There will always be someone to connect and play with. There is still a lot more features and content not mentioned here, but will be releasing after the website has initially launched.

If you do or cannot donate, still please share this around the community and with your family and friends.

I have such a passion for programming/development and gaming. This is such an amazing opportunity to collide the two passions and in return provide an amazing platform for everyone to use. Once again, thank you for your time and thank you for taking interest in PlayerCard.

Risks and challenges

The major challenge and not so much risk I have is timeline because since I am the one and only developer for this entire website, it may take a while to further plan, develop, and bug fix. I plan on publishing the website by sometime December of 2019, if the stretch goal of $14,000 is met.

Without the equipment, it will slow down my efficiency and performance sevenfold because my current setup with my laptop is very rough and is not ideal for web development. I would have to delay the release to Q1 (January – March) of 2020.

I am confident in my programming capabilities after what I went through in college, so I have full confidence that this website will launch eventually. Although I have mentioned dates above, it is still not concrete dates that this website will launch, it is just when I plan to launch it. Regardless of the risks and challenges, this website will launch no later than March of 2020.

I will be keeping everyone updated throughout the development process of the creation of PlayerCard.
