We are recording our 8th Two of a Kind CD for families and children, entitled "Sing Me Your Story." We will record the CD at MorningStar Studios in Springhouse, PA, where we have recorded most of our previous award-winning CDs. The CD will feature a children's chorus and many wonderful musicians, including our live band: "The Give 'em a Hand Band" (Hope Wesley Harrison: vocals, & bass, and Justin Solonynka: vocals, piano/keyboards, trombone, melodica, whistles, didgeridoo & percussion) and our twin sons, Ari & Jason (vocals, french horn & trombone).
Songs include a multilingual reggae hello song, a Motown-flavored zoo song, a jazzy 2-step about littering, a rockin' song about a missing library book, as well as songs about reading, polar bears, oral history, night-lights, immigration, coconut trees and Thomas Jefferson. The songs are mostly original, with covers of songs by They Might Be Giants and Billy Harley, and our version of the traditional camp song "The Other Day, I Met a Bear". Varied musical styles include reggae, folk, rock, calypso, choral, Motown and more.
We are also soliciting ideas for a new song to be included on this CD, through a "Song Idea Contest". We encourage kids and adults to send us their ideas, and we will turn the winning entry into a song that we will record on our new CD. If we make your idea into a song, you will get a free signed "Sing Me Your Story" CD before it is officially released. Ideas can be as little as a word or a title, or as big as a whole detailed story. Ideas can be funny, serious, silly, poignant or otherwise - whatever you think would make a good song! The deadline is February 25, 2011. Send us your ideas by email: firstname.lastname@example.org
We strive to make music that kids and adults can enjoy together. Since kids sometimes want to listen to their favorite music over and over and over, we feel that it is important that the lyrics for our songs are meaningful, fun, sophisticated, smart and thought-provoking, and that the music on our CDs is varied, full, rich, exciting and high-quality, with interesting musical arrangements and excellent production values. It's what kids deserve, and also what will help their parents from going crazy after many listenings at home or in the car!
Making a professional, high-quality recording is an expensive project, and as full-time musicians for over 15 years, our funds are limited. So please help us make the CD that children and adults deserve, by making a donation through Kickstarter.com!
