Digital Download Information! Read me!

Hello, everyone ! As some of you have seen, I've been slowly rolling out the digital download files to everyone who received a digital copy. Earlier, my servers were taking a pounding, but now everything's been straightened out, thanks entirely to AJ, the guy behind the servers.

Unfortunately, right now gmail has decided I've sent out too many emails, and will no longer allow me to send out any more today. I am locked out of sending Bcc email lists for 24 hours, so if you have not received yours yet, please be patient. I guess sending a thousand emails almost at once set off some flags. >_> However, 75% of the digital files have been delivered, so please be sure to check your spam filters just in case.

If you downloaded the file (This was the all-inclusive digital download) prior to 8:15pm EST, September 29th, 2012, your files are out of date! I accidentally packaged an old copy of the Book 1 files, which included many errors. This was made months ago, prior to proofreading. You'll know if you have one of these copies if a speech bubble is blank on one of the last pages.

I have remade and repackaged a new, updated file, which has been uploaded to the server since this afternoon. If you have an outdated copy of book 1, please re-download the file! However, keep in mind my poor servers when you do so. If it seems to be taking a long time, try again later!

In any case, I hope those of you who did receive your copy have enjoyed them. :) I apologize that it's been taking a while to get to everyone, but I'm working as fast as I can. There's a lot of hassle involved in delivering 2000 emails, but we're getting there.

Heads up that my link ended up in GMail's spam folder. Might want to get use Mailchimp next time ;)

I'm having the same problem as Angela. Anyone know what to do?

Thanks a lot for all the work. :)

Seems like I was one of the early birds who got the empty speech bubble. Re-downloading it now. The servers seem to handle it pretty nice right now.
Keep up the great work Tom :)

I found mine in my spam folder and downloaded it but when I try to open any of the folders, it says it's password protected.

What if I just read and filled out the survey for the digital download today? They where already sent out, so would I still get the download or is it too late?

    8. Evan Smith on September 30, 2012

Mine was in my spam folder. Good thing I found it.

And there it was, two e-mails after the Update e-mail. Every now and then it's a good thing I don't set those spam filters at their highest settings, even if it does mean some days I have to label half of my new messages as spam.

Uh-oh, I hope that the download e-mail wasn't in my spam folder. I just cleaned it out and didn't see anything that jumped out at me, so I guess I'll have to get back to you in a couple minutes when I get my inbox caught up (that's what I get for being so busy I don't check my e-mail for a couple of days, 30 some inbox messages and 200+ spam messages).

      I'm odd?
      How interesting. :P

Better than being even I suppose.

    12. Reaper1oo on September 30, 2012

And I guess I'm the only one finding AJ to be odd then XD

      @Daphne Pfister
Those directions worked amazingly although the password part was strange for me, taking 3 tries before working *shrug*

I thought there was something missing when I read mine yesterday. Guess I'll have to download it again. Thanks for fixing it quickly.

Must be one of the few that didn't get it yet.

      Crazy on September 30, 2012

It might just be server stress, but mine keeps cutting out at 11.5Mb...

    16. Daphne Pfister on September 29, 2012

I've noticed that the OS X built in archive utility doesn't seem to handle the zip file correctly when clicked on, instead it hangs ( right click on the "Archive Utility" in the dock and choose "Force Quit" to end the process ). The unzip shell command works though.

For Mac users if you are not familiar with terminal / unix shell commands, you can do the following as a work around.
      1) Create a new folder in "Finder" where you want the unpacked files to go. ( Unless you already have one )
      2) Open "Terminal" ( It's in Applications/Utilities )
      3) type "cd" followed by a space ( do not hit return yet )
      4) drag the folder where you want the files to go into the terminal window.
      5) Hit return in terminal
      6) Then type "unzip" followed by a space. ( again do not hit return yet )
      7) Drag the zip file into the terminal window.
      8) Hit return in terminal
      9) Type or paste in the zip file password and hit return
      10) After it finishes inflating all the files, you can quit terminal.

Got mine. I don't know what all the server fuss was about, mine was downloading at 3.1Mb/s :D
      Thanks Tom!

    18. Adam Bessinger on September 29, 2012

Never mined me I got it now. My own fault.

    19. Adam Bessinger on September 29, 2012

I can read the PDF files just fine, but can get the extras to show in windows picture gallery. It said the file format is not supported on both PNG and JPEG.

Just checking since I didn't get any link to digital download. I'm expecting digital copy of vol 1+2 and yes I checked the spam box on my isp site, nothing missing.

Good to know of a way to check if my files are the old copies.

Angela, I didn't have any problems. Is it prompting you for the password?

Yeah, there's limits. It's there because a tactic of spammers is to do mass mailing from compromised accounts.

Awesome to see nearly three full pages of names of those of us who supported at the level to get their names in the book. Sorted alphabetically.

      "... prior to 8:15pm EST, September 29th, 2012"
Umm, that's in the future, do you mean EDT?
(Doesn't actually affect me as I haven't got the download email yet, I'm just a pedant.)

When I click on the link the file downloads without asking for a password.
The zip I get can be unzipped. Am I the only one with this problem?

    25. Amy Thoren on September 29, 2012

I do not remember getting any downloads yet. So am I not doing some thing correctly or missing some thing?

    26. twokinds Creator on September 29, 2012

Yes, that's the one. I have just updated the file, as apparently it was still out of date when I went to test it just now. But it's been fixed. Again. If you downloaded it today, please go back and download it again. Sorry. :\

Is the missing speech bubble on page 113? Looking at my downloaded copy, there is a blank one there.
