About

Real Estate/ Yard Sign Dramatically Changed (An Uncle Remembered)

Traditional metal yard signs are heavy, awkward to carry, scratch vehicles, difficult to hammer in the ground and take lots of storage space.

A Tubular sign is fully collapsible, lightweight (approx. 4 lbs.), rust-free, no nuts & bolts, easy to setup real estate & yard sign which will dramatically impact the current worldwide sign industry that boasts millions of signs sold annually.

"Kenny, someday someone is going to invent a collapsible yard sign", a favorite line of Ken's Uncle Ray Coleman, forever cemented in his memory. "I was 11 years old", Ken shares, "I remember high-fiving the football players as we were loading the plane for a football game in Utah and feeling proud to get to ride alongside my Uncle who was the Chairman of the Wichita St. Shockers Football Team Booster Club and President of the Wichita Board of Realtors. Big stuff for a kid."

Moments before takeoff, Ken's mother came and took teary-eyed Kenny off the plane. She felt uncomfortable about him flying that day. Hours later he learned of the devastating plane crash that took the lives of all but a few, including his Uncle Ray and Aunt Maxine, who took Ken's seat at the last moment.

The loss of the most important role figure in Ken’s life influenced him to follow in his Uncle’s footsteps, choosing a career in Real Estate and ultimately the engineering of the revolutionary sign his Uncle dreamed of.

This lifelong determination and goal of Ken’s is finally being realized in Southwest, MO, with the introduction of Tubular Signs~~~The Sign With A Difference. Tubular Signs revolutionary patent-pending design replaces the encumbrancing, old traditional design.

FUTURE ACCESSORY (indoor stand)

We are working on a "convertible stand" that transforms an existing outdoor Tubular Sign for indoor use in trade shows, open houses, etc. The convertible kit will allow the sign to stand taller and provide additional surface area in the vinyl face (up to 40" in height). We feel this adds value to a Tubular Sign through versatility (outdoor and indoor use).

Ken Coleman is the visionary and co-inventor of Tubular Signs.

Ken spent his early years growing up in Wichita Kansas where his uncle, Ray Coleman, had a huge influence on Ken.  During that time Ken's Uncle was the president of the Board of Realtors and affiliated with Wichita State University Booster Club. By the time Ken was 11 years old, he wanted to be a Realtor when he grew up, like his uncle Ray. After his Aunt and Uncle tragically passed in a plane crash, Ken became absolutely endeavored to make his way into real estate.

Eventually his family moved to Branson, MO where Ken attended middle school and high school. After graduating college from the University of Wichita, Ken ultimately realized his dream of being a Realtor and became the youngest agent in Missouri when he got his license. Within the first year he was a top producer of sales in the business. By the end of the third year, he was awarded as the youngest ever in the state of Missouri to obtain the permanent Million dollar award status.

In 1980, he was forced to change focus when interest rates went up to 21% and Ken found himself working in the restaurant industry in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was extremely successful in this avenue also and became the fastest ever promoted to Franchise VP. He soon was responsible for buying real estate locations, managing marketing strategies, and training all levels of management. This time was a great experience for Ken, but he knew real estate was still his niche.

In 1988, Ken and his family were able to move back to Branson, MO where he started a real estate company. By 1991 his business had 150 agents, 5 offices, and was by far the largest and most successful real estate company in the Branson lakes area. He also learned the majority of his business strategies while running his company. Eventually he was forced to sell off the old company and reinvent the wheel with his wife, Ali Coleman. The new company had less than 10 employees doing 1 ½ times the volume of the previous 150 agent company. However, by making unique systems and thinking 'outside the box', Ken attracted 45 contractors in his market that accounted for 90% of the new home market share making his company the highest producing company in the area for many years.

The unique opportunities Ken has had in real estate have brought him many accomplishments and awards over the years. He was principle in raising the $165 million to build the first and only private municipal airport in Branson County and was able to serve as the Chairman of the Board for the first three years.

As a family man, Ken is committed to setting God-like principles for his wife, six kids, and twelve grandchildren. His other passions are to help other people obtain their goals and use his God given talents and creative skills in the pursuit of innovation.

Russell Smith is the engineer and co-inventor behind Tubular Signs, and is responsible for the technical aspects of production. Originally from Salem Oregon, Russell grew up in Bolivar, Missouri and Owatonna, Minnesota.

Russell was raised in a very unique world of entertainment; his father is a World Record Human Cannonball and his mother was a Flying Trapeze artist (together they won the World championships in 1976). He spent most of his life traveling the globe until he found an interest in wrestling.

As a young teenager, Russell would tour the country attending wrestling meets. He won 2nd place in Nationals his second year out and then became an undefeated state wrestling champion and captain of the 2005 Minnesota State Championship Team; he was ranked #3 in the USA.

A wrestling scholarship to St. Cloud State University changed his direction in life in unsuspecting ways. Taking a prerequisite math course sparked a passionate love for mathematics and drove him to seek out courses that were beyond the scope of his Alma Mater. He is one of only several hundred people in the world who understands Fractional Calculus. Russell graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Minor in Physics; he has also studied chemistry and engineering.

He has enjoyed teaching his mathematical skills to others and taught some very successful courses at Immaculate Conception Academy in Waite Park Minnesota. He taught algebra through calculus to gifted high school students and he was praised by the academic manager as being the best math teacher they ever had. He designed his lessons to encourage his students to dive into mathematics by using real world applications.

Because Russell was blessed with a creative imagination and the math skills to bring his ideas to life, becoming an inventor became a natural career path. Russell holds several patent pending/patented designs and is constantly developing new inventions.

Jeffrey Underwood grew up in Arkansas as part of a blue collar family learning the value of family, the meaning of hard work, and the worth of a dollar. It was also in Arkansas that he developed an aptitude for sports and a talent for interacting with people, propelling his future forward.

While attending Missouri State University, Jeffrey took to studying finance and economics, realizing at a young age the importance of those subjects in the coming years. It was also in college that he started his first professional job as a Realtor for Coleman & Co. in Branson. His student and professional life intertwined perfectly and Jeffrey excelled in the challenge, graduating with academic honors and a solid career.

The years following college sparked growing interest in web design and when he wasn’t golfing on the weekends, Jeffrey found himself creating websites, editing professional media for local companies, and dreaming of the next big ‘online sensation’.

In 2010, he met and married a young Air Force Officer, a transition that he wasn’t expecting, but one that he immediately excelled in. The military life style brought three different bases in three different states in three years, which meant different employment opportunities in each. However, the lessons and training from each job he held turned him into a well-rounded and well established leader.

Throughout it all, Jeffrey has shown that he is capable of excelling in challenging situations. Today, Jeffrey Underwood is God-led, fiscally cognizant, and goal-driven leader, approaching his business with creative problem-solving and innovation.
