About this project
In February of 2011, I packed a bag, turned my camera on and jumped in the tour van with The Downtown Struts, a local Chicago band, for their first U.S. tour. After over a month on the road, 18 live shows, numerous late night Taco Bell runs, expensive tour van malfunctions and a new found love for sleeping on floors, we returned to Chicago with over 40 hours of footage.
By the time I was ready to begin editing, The Downtown Struts had planned a second U.S tour and had again invited me along. At this point I realized that what had begun as a documentary about a small Midwestern band going on their first U.S tour had the potential to become an engaging story about the inner workings of an ambitious young band and their drive to succeed.
With your support I can continue to document the bands journey for the next year and tell the entire story of luck, love, and life on the road!
*Currently the band is planning an east coast tour, re-releasing their "Sail the Seas Dry" EP on vinyl through Pirates Press Records, and working on their next full length album that is set to release in early 2012.
Funding for the project will go directly toward the following:
-Mini-DV Tape stock
-Super 8 Film stock
-Super 8 Film processing and Telecine
-Promotion of the film
-DVD Duplication and Packaging
