Ship hold lifted

Last Friday, after more packaging drop test and another round of test shipment being received intact, we lifted the ship hold.  As of right now, almost all of the $45, $65, $100 and $300 orders have been shipped out.  This represents over 80% of the domestic US orders.

More information here on the OpenBeam Blog.

In the meantime, enjoy the little video I've made of our newest robotic addition to the OpenBeam family, our tape dispensing robot.  This robot is responsible for speeding up the packaging process that we are now using to survive Fedex shipping. :-)

@Ben: Our records indicated that this shipped out in June! I don't have a tracking number now, but I'll dig it up in a few days to see what happened. In the meantime I'll get a replacement out to you.

Backed @ the $100 level but haven't yet seen a shipping notice. Any updates?

Clark - sorry, I didn't see your comment here. your reward should be at Metrix. I am out of town, but you can call them and give them your invoice number and they can check off against the list. Thanks.

Got my beams last week. Great product. Thanks a lot Terence! Very smooth kickstarter project. Others should learn from you!

Have you thought of some end caps to hide the edge of the beam?

I'll definitely consider the twist-locks - after I deplete the rest of the 1500 shipping tubes that I've ordered. :-/

I've ordered aluminum extrusions from McMaster-Carr several times over the past 5-6 years, and I've received about 8 tubes with the twist-lock plastic caps with no cap losses.

@Arturo - Not yet, still have to finish this one first, but you can bet that there's something else "in the pipe" already.

@Angus & Steve - International shipments will trickle out this week. I'm selecting a representative package size for each country (a tube shipment, a long box shipment and an openbeam box shipment), so your chances are actually REALLY good that you'd be picked.

@Dave - I am probably going to switch to twist lock (or at least get a few in for testing. Unfortunately the shipping issue came up AFTER I've ordered a warehouse full (1500 pieces) of shipping tubes. But at this rate, I'll probably have to buy new tubes in a few months. It's a good problem to have. :-)

Were those twist-lock plastic end caps prohibitively expensive? They make shipment of large pieces of round stock in paper tubes very robust.

      Excellent news Terence,
Are the international backers next after the domestic shipments are complete?

I agree with the poster above:
      Best. Kickstarter. Ever!
