How many times have you been in a situation where you needed a pen but one was not available?
Chances are more than once, but that doesn’t need to happen. We've designed an Everyday Carry Keychain Pen that can be with you at all times. There is no need to remove it from a clip or split ring on your keychain to use.
This is a well-crafted pen that will last generations!

I have been hand making pens on a very old (1930s) and well-built manual lathe. I love the thing. Every time I use it, I think back to what it must have been like when it was new. Lathes such as these were a staple in shops everywhere. The smokey and oil filled atmosphere and the sound of the humming from them all.
These lathes were used all over the world. The machines were used in every type of industry, in schools, home workshops and large manufacturers. They were used where the finest accuracy was required. Much of their success was due in part to trained and skilled machinists.
However I would like to begin to utilize the technology of today and begin making these pens the CNC way. To do that, I need your help. I have found the right machine and have configured the tooling and programming and am ready to take my pens from levers and hand wheels to computers and controls but it’s all just a dream without your help.
I chose Kickstarter for a few reasons...
- To reach out and meet a growing community of people just like me who love well designed and well made products. Products that last and can be appreciated.
- I need your help to make this dream a reality. It will be a lot of hard work but isn't anything worth doing that way?
Risks and challenges
When manufacturing any product there are always risks and challenges but I prefer to call these opportunities. I have done my best to plan the entire process, executing it is the next step. I am excited to get moving on it, so the rest is up to you. During the entire process I will post updates to backers so they know where I am at all times.
The biggest risk, like most campaigns, is not meeting the deadline. While I have planned realistic goals and then added some extra time, there is always a chance for a delay.
In the process of manufacturing a product from start to finish and then shipping it out, there are many steps to accomplish. In my case, I have the additional task of getting the machine installed and setup before moving on to tooling and programming for these pens. After the CNC machine is in place, setup, tooled and a few test samples have been run, the production starts. The production process takes a big chunk of time but there is still plenty to be done after that. At that point, when production is done, just one step in creating the finished product is complete. In the shop, the next steps include, inspection, cleaning, assembly, boxing and packing. From there, its out of the shop and off to the computer to prepare the shipping paperwork.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
