Blame Jupiter.

Snowstorm Jupiter, that is. (Why are we naming snowstorms?) This dropped a foot of snow here in Portland, where I'm told they haven't seen this much snow since 1980. I haven't left the house since Tuesday afternoon, even here in the middle of the city. Things are looking very snowy and icy and it's quite cold. FedEx not only did not update our tracker today on the books, now the "delivery January 12" has been replaced with a "no scheduled delivery date available," so I am left to assume it has been delayed on the road with the trucks that have been turned away from the area due to the lack of snow removal and the number of abandoned cars, etc.

I come from a place where a foot of snow is annoying but won't shut things down. (We'd need three or four for that). So this is strange to me, but I can't control the weather. As soon as the Daybooks arrive for all you lovely backers, the shipping will commence. However, right now I can't tell you if that will be tomorrow or Saturday or Monday or when - there is no data that FedEx can give me other than that the many boxes left the printer on January 5. Very frustrated. I'll update as soon as I have more news.

In other news I am putting together the Kickstarter campaign for the companion calendar planner/perpetual calendar project. Are there any specific perks you'd like to see me include with that project? Pass them along now and maybe I can get it started before the week is out!

Thanks for your patience with our wintry mess.

Update 7pm Saturday the 14th - FedEx told me they would come today, but they didn't. Huge thanks to @FedExHelp on Twitter, who were able to track them down at least. They are in the area but the weather prevented them from being transferred from the bigger trucks to the smaller trucks for local delivery. Because Monday is a holiday, I am told to expect them Tuesday. I will keep you updated if they should show up any earlier, and I apologize for this unexpected delay. It is rather ironic that a book about time just keeps being late....

@Jackalgirl - thank you! Bookmarks are a good idea. Egyptian kitschy ones like the perks in the regular Daybook, or something printed just for this book?

Update 6pm Friday the 13th - the books have made it to the area and may be delivered tomorrow (Saturday)! So I will start digging my car out of the snow in the hopes that i can go pick them up!

Hah! I completely understand what you mean about the relative inconvenience levels of snow. For a place that's prepared and people who are used to it, a foot of snow is nothing. I'm sorry you're stuck!

You asked "Are there any specific perks you'd like to see me include with that project? Pass them along now." I had a vision of a string of scarabs used to track the passage of days (kind of like a calculator), but it's not a complete vision and anyway, that sounds too complicated. I think, though, that a bookmark - or set of bookmarks that would function as moveable tabs - would be nice.

      Thanks for the update.

And I know what you mean about the snow. I used to live in the midwest and moved to the south and it is indeed strange when just a few inches of snow shuts down everything.
