Introducing the Limited Edition TORSK-DIVER - A high-quality automatic dive watch. Our highest priority is quality, and after a year of prototyping, redesigning and making necessary changes to ensure that this timepiece meets and exceeds our quality standards, we are excited to launch the TORSK-DIVER.
With a limited quantity of 846 pieces in either a brushed 316L stainless steel case (423 pieces) or a marine grade CuSn8 bronze case (423 pieces), each timepiece will be individually numbered as No. xxx / 423 (to pay homage to the SS-423 submarine, also known as the USS-Torsk).
The TORSK-DIVER is named after the USS Torsk (SS-423) submarine, currently located in the Baltimore Inner Harbor. The USS Torsk was one of ten Tench-class submarines to see service during World War II and happened to sink the last enemy ship in 1945. It has since been decommissioned and is currently being used as a museum ship, managed by the Historic Ships in Baltimore.
The TORSK-DIVER will be offered in 2 case materials, each with 4 color combinations, and 2 bezel options. At the end of the campaign, you will have the ability to choose your exact case, dial color, bezel and strap that matches your own style. Each case has its own unique advantages.
The Marine Grade Bronze TORSK is corrosion resistant and forms a natural oxide layer over time. This extra layer, called patina, protects the metal and gives a unique design - initially the timepiece will have a rose gold tint that will darken to an artisan brown.
Alongside the world’s best watch manufacturers, the Steel TORSK uses a surgical grade brushed steel that is resistant to both pitting and corrosion.
We believe in attention to the finest details and the TORSK-DIVER is the perfect example. Everything from the sapphire glass to the screw-down crown accentuates the beauty and personality of the timepiece. The brushed case with polished accents enhances the luxurious style and rugged look.

The TORSK-DIVER is tested and rated at 30 ATM / 300m of water resistance. Don't let the looks fool you - the TORSK-DIVER can handle your water adventures. Take it with you when you shower, swim, dive, or surf. The TORSK-DIVER is built like a Submarine... more specifically, like the USS-TORSK.
The automatic Miyota 9015 by Citizen was our number one choice for the TORSK-DIVER. Many reviews have compared it to the Swiss ETA movements in terms of timekeeping and performance without the high price tag. Having used it for our first model, we were extremely pleased with the accuracy and reliability. As an improvement to an already incredible movement, we will also regulate the movement in 4 positions.
The 9015 includes a date window, 48 hour power reserve, and beats at 28,800 VPH (Vibrations Per Hour), resulting in a very smooth sweep of the second hand. It is also shock resistant and includes a hacking function, making it one of the best values on the market. Best of all - no battery needed.
We were tired of storing wooden watch boxes that just collected dust in the closet so we decided to include a watch winder as the display box with every TORSK-DIVER.
We call this, the TORSK-WINDER. A newly designed winder, inspired by the periscope found on a submarine. With its rugged looks and programmable winder features, the TORSK-WINDER will look great on any surface. The great thing about this is, since the TORSK-DIVER is powered by an automatic movement, when placed in the winder, it will help power your timepiece when you're not using it.
We will be offering 3 Vintage Leather straps, made by Clockwork Synergy, a local Ellicott City, Maryland strap company.
These high-quality leather watch straps are crafted from premium Calf leather. Sized at 22mm wide and 6mm thick, each strap comes with extra padding, making it sturdy, yet soft with sweat resistant lining to feel smooth against your wrist. Straps are available in three color options: vintage light brown, vintage brown, and vintage black leather.
A natural rubber strap is also available as an option for both the bronze and steel watch variations.
If you're interested in purchasing an additional strap, just add $20 to your pledge (50% off future retail price)
Every Tsao Baltimore TORSK-DIVER comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and a 2 - year limited international warranty against manufacturing or movement defects.

Commissioned on December 16, 1944, USS TORSK was built at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and was one of only ten Trench Class fleet type submarines to see service in World War II. Deployed to the Pacific, TORSK operated from Pearl Harbor and made two war patrols off Japan during the spring and summer of 1945. During her first patrol, which lasted from April 15 to June 16, 1945, TORSK carried out plane guard duties for American aircraft engaged in bombing raids on Japan. TORSK was underway on her second war patrol from July 17 until September 9, 1945 and was credited with sinking three Japanese ships before the end of hostilities. The first of these, a small freighter, was torpedoed on the afternoon of August 13, and the following day TORSK sank two Japanese coastal defense frigates which turned out to be the last enemy warships torpedoed before peace was achieved.
After World War II, TORSK alternated between duties as a training boat at the Navy’s Submarine School in New London, CT, and active deployments in the Atlantic and Mediterranean. In 1952, the boat underwent a fleet snorkel conversion, and in the mid 1950s received equipment for use in the testing and development of the Regulus missile. In 1960, TORSK received a Presidential Unit Citation for service during the Lebanon Crisis, and in 1962 earned the Navy Commendation Medal for actions during the Cuban Blockade. Decommissioned on March 4, 1968, with an impressive record of over 10,600 career dives, TORSK arrived in Baltimore to serve as a museum and memorial in 1972.

Risks and challenges
With all projects there are risks. We're no different. This is our second Kickstarter project, the first being a success. We learned a great deal during the first project and were able to fulfill all on schedule. Similar to our first project, we've tried to take every step there is to minimize the potential risks for our backers and future customers. We've chosen to work with an incredible, competent, ambitious and reliable watch manufacturer who has been in the business for a long time. We oversee all details ourselves, ensuring that the watches are guaranteed to be up to our, and your, standards.
If and when any issues arise, we'll communicate them here on Kickstarter and via email. When you back us you'll never feel out of the loop.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
