Seas of Fortune is an Age of Sail game in first person, where you as the player will take the wheel as Captain on a sailing vessel based on real models from the 16th and 17th century. As Captain you will face the challenges of the era in its best form, around your crew and on board an amazing ship you can call your own by customizing the Captain's cabin with a wide range of furniture and other assets. Interact with the crew and find out their stories, take charge and make sure you keep their loyalty to ensure a smooth trip from port to port. Seas of Fortune is estimated to be released in Q4 2019 at its current scope.

What did our community testers say?
Seas of Fortune will immerse you in the cold hard truth of life at sea, but you're not alone. Your crew stands with you in your battle for survival and riches. Keep morale up, supplies stocked and the ship in good repair. There are riches to be had, and Legends to be found.
- Experience the wildlife at sea and take part in the hunt for riches! The hunt for whale oil was a big part of the 16th century and an even bigger one from the 17th century. There will be whale sightings while at sea giving you the opportunity to take part of yet another mini-game. Will you survive the encounters?
Become a powerful merchant - earn money by trading, exploring, or taking on transport missions. Enjoy the beauty of the sea!
- Earn enough gold to buy bigger and better ships, with a range of sizes.
This is "The Dawn" a tier 3 ship based on a Dutch vessel from the 16th century called "The Pearl". You will be able to get some pretty cool ships in game, the total plan for full version is to have 12 ships.
There are 6 Tiers planned of which Tier 1 is the smallest and Tier 6 is the largest ship. Here is a small overview of the current types of vessels you can expect to have fun with, exact number and varieties to be decided:
Bilander, Brigantine, Carrack, Ship of the line, Galleon & Fluyt
- Customize your captain`s cabin with the finest furniture.
Here are some concepts of the Tier 10 bed, table and chair. There will be various styles of furniture to choose from, some looking better then others:
- Protect your cargo from pirates and hostile nations.
In certain parts of the world you will be hunted, ether by pirates or nations out to confiscate or plunder your cargo! Some ships will be equipped with cannons with which you will be able to defend yourself and your crew; some ships will not. How will you get out of the situation? Paying them off? Out-sail them with your crazy skills at sea? Who knows, but we want to give you some variations in possibilities so each encounter does not feel the same.
- Carve Scrimshaw while at sea - create something beautiful to sell for extra gold, or show it off online to your fellow Captains
One of our various planned mini-games is to carve Scrimshaws at the crafting station. Here you can use tools to create something interesting and explore your creativity. Carvings from sailors were found everywhere on antique ships to help pass periods of downtime whilst at sea.
- Interact with your crew - sing sea shanties or engage them in conversation to find out who they are. Bond with them and earn their trust!
Every crew member looks and acts differently, each with a story of his own to tell. Some play music, some sing shanties and some clean the deck, while others have to tend to the food for the crew and captain. The size of the crew will depend on the ship.
Craft items to sell or use towards repairing your ship.
Crafting will be a big part of your experience on the ship, making tools and equipment with which to repair things or crafting items from blueprints to sell for gold.
Free Roam Birds:
Of course we want you to enjoy the beauty of your ship from as many angles as possible, and what better way than to fly around it? Every ship will have a Seagull, but higher Kickstarter Backers will be able choose one from the appropriate pledge.

Mythical Encounters - $40,000
There will be plenty of surprises in the game even for the naval expert, as we are making these mythical creatures come alive from a sailor's perspective. Sailors of the time firmly believed in these creatures as well as galleons that roamed the seas, for better or worse. But creature design and animation is expensive, and some are also really challenging to put in game, which is why the bigger ones are stretch goals. Take a look at some of our concepts and lets make kraken happen!
More Ships - $50,000
We would love to have more than 12 ships in the game, so if we reach the $50,000 stretch goal we will add 5 more ships to the list!
?????? - $60,000
?????? - $70,000

The idea behind Seas of Fortune came to life in December 2016, from my love of old naval games like Man of War (1997), Sid Meier's Pirates and Sea Dogs. From the beginning of 2017 I wrote down ideas and did a high concept document stating how things would look and work, I quickly realized it was too ambitious to undertake alone and by February/March I contacted a consultant with over 10 years of experience in the gaming industry. I partnered up with Michel Mony from Cathar Games who believed in the game and saw its potential.
For me, this is a pure passion project, but with limited resources, in order to get the game out there we need to move over to crowdfunding. I am aware that ambitious projects like this have a trust problem on Kickstarter, for obvious reasons, but I am determined to not let this project be one of them! This is why I firmly believe in open development and having backers test certain things along the way to see if the game is headed in the right direction. As a player myself and backer of numerous projects, I want YOUR voice to matter in development as you are invested in this as much as I am. We will also have a sailmap that will be updated frequently with every developer update so you can see how close we are getting to every major point in development.
I hope you can help us make this game a reality in any way you can, be it by backing, or even just sharing it on social media.
All the best,

Risks and challenges
There is always risk involved with game development; this is why we have clear goals of where to go and what to do when we work.
As this is the first game for some of us we have teamed up with people in the industry who have extensive experience in the field. This will increase the chance of success for the project.
Backers will be updated on a frequent basis regarding any development challenges that might occur.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
