Rugged yet refined, Trunkster’s singular design is the ultimate blend of form and function. Rather than just adding smart features to existing luggage, we aspired to introduce a game-changing design with our evolutionary sliding door. The last major update to the core design of luggage was wheels. And while many cool new features have been introduced since then, most have failed to improve the actual experience of using luggage.
As avid travelers, we realized there's a fine line between useful features and superfluous gimmicks. For example, we realized most travelers never use the laptop compartment on carry-ons, opting instead to use a backpack or handbag. With that in mind, every inch of Trunkster has been thoughtfully considered to bring you a well-crafted suitcase that prioritizes utility and versatility in a minimalist style. ZIPPERLESS ENTRY
We're all too familiar with that frustrating moment when you realize you quickly need something out of your bag. With Trunkster’s revolutionary sliding door, you no longer have to unzip your entire bag and flap it open. The rolltop door lets you instantly access your belongings in one swift motion. The door is extremely durable and waterproof, made of a rigid exterior and corrugated, malleable interior. The door is not only practical, but engineered specifically to withstand the perils of baggage handling. In addition, the door provides an enhanced level of theft protection, unlike vulnerable zippers.
REMOVABLE BATTERY + USB CHARGER (CARRY-ON ONLY)
Trunkster lets you charge your phone up to 9 times. No longer will you be one of those desperate people huddled around the only plug in the airport. Trunkster’s power bank is removable and can be used independently of Trunkster to charge your devices anywhere you go. If you need more power, simply upgrade with any USB compatible power bank (only available for carry-on).
BUILT-IN DIGITAL SCALE
Is there anything worse than being told your bag is overweight after you’ve already packed and have an angry mob waiting in line behind you? Say goodbye to the days of standing on your bathroom scale while holding your luggage. Our built-in digital scale works by simply lifting your bag, and can be switched between lbs and kgs.
COMPLETE CONTROL HANDLE
We can think of few worse elements of luggage than flimsy telescopic handles. They break, get in the way of packing, and are nearly useless when moving heavy bags. Trunkster features a robust, side-to-side handle that gives you absolute control and enhanced balance through many grip positions. Plus, the handle's special design allows for an uninterrupted cargo space for optimum packing capacity.
GPS ENABLED
Now you don't have to worry about losing your bag, whether it's unexpectedly gate checked, or you're checking for a long journey. Trunkster can be tracked from any connected device, and is activated with the push of a button. This feature is available as an upgrade, sold separately (+$40). In order to offer a solution with the best balance of price and accuracy, Trunkster relies on the same technology utilized by Apple's "Find My Mac."

We've finalized our initial prototype but to advance to the next phase requires significant capital. We need your help to afford the costly fixed production components and meet minimum order quantities. As lifelong globetrotters and partners in crime, we've traveled together extensively. Always complaining that there was no great option for luggage that matched our lifestyles, we finally decided to take matters into our own hands. What began with the bold step of napkin sketching, transformed into an undertaking more exciting and immense than we ever imagined.
Conceptualized during our travels from the uncharted wilderness of remote African islands to the fabled streets of Havana, Trunkster is the realization of the luggage we always wished we had. To make Trunkster a reality, we underwent an extensive research and development process. It began by creating a draft of our 3D model and then fabricating that design into a working physical prototype. With this prototype, we were able to test the functionality of several features and explore the variety of options available to us. Below are photos of our very first prototype, as well as videos demonstrating both the scale and USB charging features in the ideation phase. Working with this model allowed us to advance to the creation of a fully functional prototype, and to finalize our CAD, including electrical components, for our manufacturing partners.

While manufacturing a product has become increasingly easier in today's well-connected world, it is still a fascinatingly complex challenge. To best prepare for these challenges, we've been consulting with both successful Kickstarter inventors and luggage industry experts over the past year.
We have a strong plan for manufacturing in Taiwan / outside of Hong Kong, and shipping to our backers around the world. We've studied the details of taking a product to market and have already solidified the partnerships required to do so, including factories in Asia, US fulfillment houses, international shippers, global insurance companies, and a crack team of experts to tackle specific challenges like raw material sourcing, engineering, and retail management.
Though it's difficult to plan for every unforeseen circumstance, such as climatic or political events that delay production, we've invested significant ground work in contingency plans should these type of problems arise. Nonetheless, we are certain to face unexpected challenges throughout this journey and will do our best to solve them efficiently. We've pinpointed the top factories capable of handling this type of highly customized luggage production and have backup suppliers in case our chosen partner falls through. We pledge to keep our backers well informed throughout the entire production process and commit to doing everything in our power to deliver Trunkster without significant delay.
