With your help, we aim to produce the best high-end skateboard gaming experience available.
The unique custom built physics engine behind the success of TRUE SKATE mobile is being amplified to 4K quality to be played on PC and Console.
To demonstrate just how good a 4K skateboarding game can look we have created a proof of concept demo on PC that allows players to control their ride, at the famous skate spot MACBA, via a mobile device or gamepad. The demo also proves that TRUE SKATE will still work after adding an animated character to ride the skateboard.
Yes you read it right, TRUE SKATE now has a character! The demo includes a generic TRUE SKATE character but we aspire to add Pro Skateboarders and other customizable character features to enhance the experience from TRUE SKATE mobile. All goals to deliver a more bespoke game experience.
Like with TRUE SKATE mobile, the lifelike touch based physics enables players to control the skateboard and make it react exactly how you expect to perform tricks that mimic real life skateboarding. We have also figured out ways to translate our intuitive flick controls to the analog sticks on a gamepad and are currently having great fun playing the demo with an Xbox controller.
Across our support loops and on social media there has been intense feedback around the desire for the next quality high-end skateboarding game to arrive and this hasn’t gone unnoticed. We have also been waiting to see what comes next, but after such a long delay, it appears that the big publishers don't believe in the market for Skateboarding games. We want to give you the chance to prove them wrong.
TRUE SKATE BIG SCREEN has also been a dream of ours for a while and we have invested a considerable amount of money, time and resources into creating a successful demo to give a taste of what could be possible. The mobile touch controls feel natural when playing on a BIG SCREEN, as do the traditional gamepad controls that replicate how you flick the board on mobile, we are excited to offer a range of different options to suit player preferences. Even in its current early state, TRUE SKATE BIG SCREEN is already a lot of fun to play and looks beautiful. We wish everybody could be playing the game right now, but releasing a commercial product is still going to take a lot more effort and investment.
So what’s next? This project is our most ambitious to date and we want TRUE SKATE players to help us define what we are creating. We have set our target amount at A$650,000 which is the minimum amount we need to produce a small core product to a very high-quality, which we can then release in the shortest possible time frame. Either the success of this release, or additional funding will allow us to add more content.
The funds will be used to release the game on PC and Mac via Steam. Which on launch will include but not be limited to:
TRUE SKATE BIG SCREEN will launch with the skate spot surrounding the Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona, commonly known as MACBA.
Experience real world MACBA videos from our friends at MACBA Life.
TRUE SKATE BIG SCREEN will launch with a second skatepark of your choosing. All backers will be able to have their say on which course makes it to the launch of TRUE SKATE BIG SCREEN. It could be one of the many existing skateparks in TRUE SKATE mobile or a completely new park, it's up to you.
CHARACTER / ANIMATIONS
TRUE SKATE BIG SCREEN will launch with the TRUE SKATE character, however our first priority should we meet our goal, is to get the character animation system looking as realistic as possible. Although we already have a working animation system, skateboarding is highly technical, and a keen eye will be quick to notice that it is still a work in progress. We've learned a lot from what we have done so far and are excited about putting in the work to produce a natural looking animation system to line up with our intuitive TRUE SKATE flick controls.
TRUE SKATE BIG SCREEN will launch with the TRUE SKATE skateboard.
TRUE SKATE BIG SCREEN will also launch with the limited edition skateboards exclusive to select Kickstarter backers.
TRUE SKATE BIG SCREEN will be single player at launch, so start honing your skills in the streets of MACBA and the second to be announced skate spot. For launch you will be able to choose from 10 different camera modes, including a spectator mode.
TRUE SKATE BIG SCREEN will launch with a mobile touch based control system available at the App Store for iOS users and Android users via Google Play and Amazon App Store for Android. We will also launch with an intuitive control system for play on gamepads. We will offer a range of different gamepad control options to suit player preferences.
Our objective is to make the world's most realistic skateboarding game available on all gaming platforms so we do have stretch goals. We have a huge roadmap of ideas and we are sure you do too. With the help of your Kickstarter pledges and existing players, TRUE SKATE BIG SCREEN will include content and capabilities including progression through an arcade mode just like real life skateboarding and the ability to play and compete in multiplayer mode that will rival any other AAA game on the market.
TRUE SKATE mobile has integrated some of the world's biggest skateboard and griptape brands and we will be inviting these brands and more to TRUE SKATE BIG SCREEN.

There is always the real possibility that we may have to launch later than we’d like, which might be the largest risk of all. We promise to keep in touch regarding changes to schedule, gameplay or events that may impact you.
