This fall, I did a 5 day tour with my friend Jun Miyake, of New York City. We performed in a Poetry Park, concert hall, cafe, and a barn in Wisconsin! The culmination of this was recording session on October 2nd. I finished mastering/ copying this disc, as well as doing the artwork , on the 16th of October, so Jun could take some along for promotion, while he is on a tour of Japan.
While this music is open-ended and exploratory, it doesn't sound like most "free jazz".Two of the five compositions are duets with flute and piano: the three other tracks feature Nathan Hanson on soprano and tenor saxophone, Eric Coursen on drums, Jun Miyake on Noh flute & tenor saxophone, and Sean Egan on clarinet. Jun plays flute on all tracks. I had charts, but threw them out the window, as they weren't needed.
So, I am raising 800$ to cover recording costs, and transportation from NYC. I do intimate collections of music, short runs, and in the last three releases, I make all the cover art. ..printing, by hand! Therefore , there are variations in the color, texture in each release... yet, there is a common thread. You might want to display the cover on the wall.
I thank you profoundly for your support.
Risks and challenges
Risks. Since I I have already recorded and produced these CD's and art prints, there is no risk. I am a punctual person, and stand by my word to send the CD's and art. The risk I have is not making the goal. in which case, I proceed as usual, and make art.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
