About this project
Goal: Publish an Awesome eBook, titled "Summit in Doha"
In April of 2012 I will be going to Doha, Qatar. I will be documenting TEDxSummit as an attendee. I will be photographing the event through a mixture of landscape and portrait images.
Doha is definitely the jewel of Qatar. When I found out about this conference in Doha, I went to Google. There didn't seem to be a lot that really came alive with the spirit of the area. There were a few industrial pictures that highlight some of the grand highlight architecture of the city. Yet I didn't find much about the cultural aspects of this beautiful city. Souq Waqif is an incredible place to explore and it will have its own dedicated chapter. When you add the magic of a TEDx event with the passion of a place like Doha, something special will happen. I want to share that.
I will be in Qatar for 6 intense days. I will be photographing the events, the excursions, the people, and the landscape. I will be interviewing attendees and our hosts. The text gathered from these interviews will be paired with the portraits to showcase the spirit of the event. I will also be adding my voice to the project.
I hope to work with some of the students from the Doha Film Institute.
Why I need your help!
I've got the housing and incidentals covered. I need help with the airfare. Since I don't believe in asking without giving, this is where Kickstarter.com came in.
In November of 2011, on my birthday I might add, I hosted a very successful TEDx event, TEDxDraper. This evening event with live speakers and a world class harpist was well received. As an event organizer I had an opportunity to apply to attend TEDxSummit. Since then my application was accepted.
One thing I've wanted to do has been write a book. I love reading and have wanted to write a book since before I was married, but 8 kids later it hasn't happened. The idea to write an eBook came from Lynn Fausett, author of "Crimes of Humanity". He spoke at the TEDxDraper event.
So the idea for "Summit In Doha" was born.
Thanks for your consideration!
