About this project
So like the video said, I plan on taking the world by storm.... with greeting cards.
Wait! Don't leave!
See? This idea is really good!
The conventions and motions of birthday cards, get well cards and general greetings are bland and boring! We want greeting cards to be edgy, we want people to do more than "look for money" when they open their greeting cards before tossing them away! In fact, we want to make cards that don't even call for an occassion! Cards that are witty and can be a gift in themselves. We want people to say, hey where'd you find this card? It's awesome and I wanna get someone for bla bla bla blah... That's who WE are.
Unfortunately, we are also very poor and "make our dreams come true" missed it's slot in our budget. We've got the skills and time, but we need printing supplies to get this going. We'd like to market our cards not just online, but we want to reach out to local stores and get our cards on shelves, we need biz cards and a site that says "We are the Real Deal".
The cards will feature edgy original cartoon characters in situations that we often find ourselves in as humans, with sarcastic humor. For instance, confessing to someone that you like them or telling your mom how much you love her but how annoying she is at the same time.
While the basic scope of the project is edgy greeting cards, we believe our characters would look great on notebooks, t-shirts, posters and more, so more funding means we can do more stuff. If we manage to break our goal we will definitely get started on a t-shirt and accessories line ASAP! But we are a humble duo who would be more than happy just to get a little support from the world!
Risks and challenges
Oh boy. This is a BIG one. There are many talented people in this world, who are great artists with great ideas that do all sorts of things to make their goals a reality. Sometimes, it is just not enough. I'm afraid that something that I think is great and fresh won't ring the same way to others. Can greeting cards really be edgy? Do people care? These are hurdles I face, but my response is simply this, "We have to make them care". Basically, we want to improve a toy that none of the other kids wanted until we made it cool.
Since we are a small team of two, mishaps regarding design and vision are virtually impossible, ain't nothin' to it, but to do it !Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
