A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. We are a start-up company from Munich providing the world's first high performance inflatable stand-up-paddle board. We created a board that combines the advantages of inflatables with the performance of hardboards.

TRIPSTIX surfboards come along with numerous advantages compared to traditional inflatable boards.
TRIPSTIX boards distinguish themselves by a high level of performance due to their stiffness and shape, rivaling classic SUPs/surfboards made out of composite materials. TRIPSTIX boards provide more safety than traditional iSUPs thanks to a second floatable chamber. Our boards inflate twice as fast as classic iSUPs and are comfortable to transport and store.
Each component of our boards is carefully crafted to provide you with the best quality and sporty, elegant design. We have spent a lot of time finding the best materials that will guarantee the highest quality and best performance on the water.
Standard vs TRIPSTIX technology
With our two-chamber-technology, we can create exact shapes on all kind of surfboards. Sharp rails, delicate nose and tail, concave hull and balanced rockerlines characterize our inflatable boards. The extra stiffness provided by the vacuum chambers in combination with a perfect shape results in a high-performance surfboard. Surfboards with our technology float even if punctured.
Standard inflatable surfboards have the same thickness throughout the entire board. They are hard to inflate and sink immediately if punctured. Thick rails, undefined nose and tail result in less maneuverability and low performance.
Our boards consist of air- and vacuum chambers. Whilst the tubular air chambers bring along the shape, the granule filled vacuum chambers provides stiffness and stability when vacuum is applied. The vacuum tubes replace the stringer in traditional surfboards. This innovative patent-pending technology can be applied to many different surfboard shapes.
Over the years, we have continuously worked on the design, planning and the development of the perfect board. After some setbacks but even more successes we are now able to present our fully developed Allround-board.
We are always keen on travelling and have tested our boards on different rivers, lakes and oceans. That is why we decided to call ourselves TRIPSTIX. TRIP represents the passion for exploring new countries and waters. STIX is the colloquial expression for a surfboard.
To further optimize the stiffness of our boards, which is key for high performance, we built a test bench. This way, we can assure that our boards hold up to the highest standards and provide the best quality.
Bright minds full of ideas.
The idea to combine air chambers with vacuum chambers was born in 2011. Stefan was writing his PHD-thesis in robotics at the Technical University of Munich. As land-locked surfer, he was travelling to the ocean as often as possible and was always annoyed by his bulky equipment. Inflatable solutions available on the market did not meet his requirements, so he decided to develop his own idea of an inflatable surfboard.
Bene is a sports scientist from Munich who loves all kind of board sports and has been shaping hardboards since 2010. He experiments with high tech materials and always knows about upcoming surf trends and how to work up the best materials.
Anne studies sports business. She is responsible for communication and PR. Additionally, she keeps a close eye on our social media channels plus all creativity stuff.
We decided to go with kickstarter because launching a pre-order campaign allows us to bring our boards to the market this year. Without your support, we won't be able to afford production including high-quality materials like aramid and other high-performance polymeres. We’re passionate about the product experience that we’ve got to offer and we can’t wait to share it with you all. With your support, we can manufacture our iSUPs this summer.
Risks and challenges
As a company we have already faced different challenges. But none of them made us give up. We are proud to finally introduce our Allround SUP board. During the last 6 years, we have been developing an understanding of the tricky parts when it comes to developing something innovative. But we have also built great relationships with designers, manufacturers and suppliers.
We want to make our Kickstarter campaign and the following process as transparent as possible. So we will keep you informed about possible delays but we’re committed to our guarantee that our boards will be on the water this year.
