Hey Gamers! Trini-V Games here, with our first ever game, and our first ever KickStarter campaign. We are creating a game dubbed Oberon’s Kingdom. We have styled it as a “Dark” MMORPG for PC. We will most likely be distributing it through Steam. Now, I would like to make two statements here. First, we are not dead set against having a publisher, as long as we get to make *our* game with *our* ideas, and the publisher is only helping to make that happen. Second, we are not opposed to creating console versions, but the need for frequent updates and bug fixes may make this difficult.
Welcome to the world of Avalon, where you can be the Hero or Villain you have always wanted to be!
The High King of the land, Oberon, has been poisoned, and the realm of Avalon has fallen into chaos. The lord’s children fight amongst themselves for the right to rule the kingdom in his absence, and are raising armies to fight for the crown. These armies are being led the Grand Generals Merlin and Morgana.
However, there is a third faction for the truly adventurous: The Truth Seekers. A secretive organization, they originate from outside Avalon and work to find the source of the poison which has weakened Oberon. They will stop at nothing to find it.
The game shares traits with existing MMOs, but please don’t confuse us for just another run of the mill time sink. There are three different variations to the storyline which are determined by which side you choose. Additionally, every choice has a consequence, every word has an effect, and even the race you choose will affect how others view you, making this a truly immersive experience.
Each race is designed to embody two of the Seven Deadly Sins. Every race has an aspect of Pride to them, believing their race to be superior to all others.
The Elves consider themselves the privileged children of the gods. For countless years the Elves have lived in exile for their betrayal of Oberon in the last major war. They are more focused on the contents of their neighbors’ purses and homes than they are on their own. This formerly noble race has degraded to a collection of wretched, paranoid thieves.
The Dwarves call themselves the Lords of the Mines. In reality they are little more than accountants. They greedily hoard every last Faean (the standard Avalonian currency) that they can get their hands on. Only after haggling the price far below the item’s actual value will they grudgingly release their hold on a few to purchase ale (and other necessities). The only guaranteed method to part these slobbering drunks from their coin is to offer them still more ale.
Orcs are gluttonous bastards, all of them. Murderous, bloodthirsty barbarians, they would gladly cut off your head first and try to ask it questions later. They continually press for more power, money and land. There is never enough for these savages. They constantly seek that which everyone else has in order to feed their insatiable appetite for more.
Faeries are a disturbing lot. In the old world they were nudists, obsessed with pleasure in all forms. Due to recent decrees by Oberon they have changed their ways… slightly. Although they no longer display public nudity, so as to co-exist with the “civilized races”, they still enjoy everything in excess, and are just as obsessed with their habitual addictions.
The Dryads tend to the lazy and worthless. They take ages to work out the simplest idea, and even longer to decide if they should follow up. They would rather spend their days basking in the sun’s rays, drawing nutrients from the earth with their probing roots, than to take any action.
Gargoyles are a terrible group of beings. Highly territorial and savage, they are demons in the truest sense of the word. Quick to anger, slow to calm, a gargoyle is more than willing to spill blood to prove a point, and delight in using their stone-like skin to crush an opponent’s skull.
Of course, that is far from all that there is to the game. We have plans for multiple classes. For the launch, we plan on including Mage, Warrior, Rogue, Ranger, Monk, Shaman, Hunter, Paladin, Barbarian and Cleric. We have plans to expand the class system even further as the game evolves.
Now, what, you may ask, sets us apart from the multitudes of other MMOs on the market today, such as World of Warcraft, Guild Wars and Everquest? First of all, our world will be split into multiple islands, allowing separate and drastically differing areas to explore, while still keeping them connected. These islands present a large space for future expansion.
Drawing upon centuries of lore dealing with monsters, magic, heroes and villains, we have hundreds of choices for possible enemies and bosses. Additionally, there is room for countless new races and new lands in expansions.
Since this game is in its inception stage there is plenty of room for it to evolve and change to fit features which you, the players, are looking for, without compromising our vision for the game. This means, of course, that stretch goals will be developed based partially upon your suggestions as the campaign runs. These will also be available on our website as soon as our Tech Monkey gets it up. (Have you seen him? He’s adorable!) We will have stretch goals added once the site is up, possibly even before then.

Now, for the spotlight items:
We have plans to create an ever expanding list of quests. This means that as the game continues we will be adding more and more content for players, in the form of racial, story, raid, guild, or party quests. There will never be a true end to the potential story.
Exploration will be rewarded. People who love to go out and sight see will have a grand experience and plenty of special rewards. Some areas will offer additional experience while others may provide unique equipment or permanent buffs.
If you are worried that all of the focus will just be on questing, and that there will be no crafting system, well, you are wrong. We intend to provide a well-formed crafting system that expands as the world does, involving weapons and equipment befitting every race, region or military faction, creating what we hope to be millions of customizable looks.
The classes will complement each other and is also designed to be effective in solo play, but you will have abilities which will become even more powerful when combined with abilities from other classes.
There will also be a dedicated PVP world to which your Avalon character can transport at any time. This way, players who want to avoid PVP can do so easily, and players looking for a worthy challenge among their fellow players will have no difficulty doing so.

Risks and challenges
The first issue to be addressed is a lack of staff since we do plan on producing a high quality, immersive experience and we will address that by employing all necessary staff as needed once we can afford to do so.
Other obstacles include various life events and other unforeseen issues which will be handled as they arise.
