We now have a demo: Technician Demo
The story centers around a young man named Oliver fresh out of college who lands his dream job as a Computer Technician at a big name company. The story begins about six months after his first day of work. So he's already made friends, enemies, has an apartment, and understands his place in the company. He takes care of his little sister Lily, who can't leave the apartment much because of her crippling condition.
His life quickly unfolds as a work colleague goes missing with valuable research that his job, Lily, and the world depends on. It's up to you and the people you meet to find your lost friend and secure his research.
Along the way, he'll meet the insanely lovable characters that can only be found in The Technician. Opposition is frequent, but there will be time to smell the roses along the way. Immerse yourself, play sports, solve riddles, face natural disasters. The choice is yours. The beauty of The Technician is it's a story about an ordinary person put into an extraordinary situation.
The Technician's game-play relies heavily on the fact that you're an average adult with a very killable body. Because of this, conflict is mostly resolved with a quick wit and critical thinking. For instance, instead of running at the objective armed to the teeth with guns, the player will have to cut the power to the building in order to shut off the lights, then sneak inside without getting caught in order to retrieve the objective.
The world is populated with characters who run on an autonomous AI system, each with specific tasks based on the time of day (in game/in the real world,) what is close to them, and more human motivations, like how frightened they are.
Along with Autonomous AI the characters within the game have a moral gauge and a special mechanic that we've been working on called "Right Place, Right Time".
The RPRT mechanic dictates what events will be in what locations at what time. For instance, the player can find a fisherman who can help the player complete an objective, but can only be found at the lake at "optimal fishing times", and events of that caliber.

The success of a Kickstarter project relies on those who believe in it. Actively engaging our community is our main goal. We have a website: The Technician, with forums teeming with life, a constantly updated Facebook & Twitter page, and a diverse group of designers, artists, & programmers.

With your support we can make this dream a reality! You decide the future of this game, we welcome you to become a part of our community, and maybe even consider backing, but your support alone and telling your friends about this project is amazing too!
Risks and challenges
After several 14 hour days, hundreds of sketches taped to the walls of the bedroom, dozens of HTML and Ruby scripts and too many energy drinks, I would love to have some help with this project. There have been helping hands along the way (and I'm extremely thankful for that), but nothing consistent. The search continues!!!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
