About this project
"Will show you how improv is done when its done brilliantly" - The Austin Chronicle
"They have built their own language of improv" - The Austin American-Statesman
We're lucky to have done so much in the wonderful world of improv. We've attended dozens of festivals as both wide-eyed students and paid headliners. We've produced our own festivals and toured the country. We've had awesome shows in terrible bars, awkward shows in giant gorgeous theaters, and everything in between.
We're super excited to share all that we've learned about the art of improvisation and performing comedy in this book. Thank you for reading and for supporting "Improv Wins!"
About Tami Nelson, writer: Tami Nelson is co-founder of The New Movement. She is the TNM Conservatory Director in New Orleans, is the first contact of all students as their Level 1 and Level 2 Improv teacher, and performs regularly with a variety of TNM House Troupes.
About Chris Trew, writer: Chris has been living and breathing improv for nearly 10 years. After submersing himself in the national improv scene through festivals and intensives, he dedicated his life to teaching, performing and promoting comedy in Austin and New Orleans while constantly touring the country with a variety of projects. He also books comedy at a ton of festivals including FunFunFun Fest, Moontower Fest, Hell Yes Fest, and Megaphone Marathons. Chris is the co-founder of The New Movement and Studio 8.
About Truston Aillet, illustrator: Truston Aillet is an artist and writer living in Lafayette, LA. His peculiar creations are assembled from no specific style and follow no particular mode of expression. He draws his inspiration from a gumbo of cultural outlets and he cannot help but see the world in shapes, and in love, and in words of every caliber and candor.
About Brock LaBorde, editor: Brock has written and produced hours of sketch comedy, web series, and shorts (Studio8.net), two books (You Are the Messiah! and The Semi-Complete Guide to Sort of Being a Gentleman), and many feature-length and TV scripts (Comedy Central). Currently, Brock lives in Los Angeles and is writing his third book, editing Improv Wins, and managing Studio 8 and The New Movement, a duo of kick-ass comedy theaters in Austin and New Orleans. As a stand-up, sketch performer, and improviser, he performs all across America.
Risks and challenges
After funding ends, the only challenge and setback will be converting the book to e-book format and recording and distributing the audiobook, but we've got it covered and we're not scared of anything. So really, we don't have any risks or challenges, but we had to put SOMETHING down here!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
